I didn't know what was going on, I regret it I have to say
Why couldn't I have come over more often, seen you just another time
I took those moments for granted, until you fell silent this faithful day
I thought everything was ok, that I could see you again, but you weren't fine
Seeing you with a mask on your face, struggling to breathe the air
You looked so calm, accepting death as it enclosed you
No I scream take me instead, this isn't fair
I need more conversations, I can't even remember a few
I lock my shaking hand with your frail one clinging on
Wanting you to make it, making every moment last
But your hands slips away as dusk turns to dawn
As you leave this world without looking back and going fast
I remember that day like a tormenting nightmare, oh it's so violent
When I remember the day that you fell silent
