The Monastary

(Shepard, Thorne, Jane, Kaidan, James, Liara, Garrus, EDI, Galahad, Jack, Javik, Kirrahe, Grunt, Mordin, Thane, Ashley, and Cortez are all in the shuttle with Cortez, flying down to Mesana to respond to a distress beacon)

Shepard: Dig up any information on the mission, Liara?

Liara: I did, and I now understand why high command wanted to hide it. We're headed to an ardat-yakshi monastery

Jack: Ardat-yakshi?

Thorne: You mean like Morinth?

Liara: Morinth chose to be a killer. These ardat-yakshi isolated themselves to avoid that. But it doesn't mean they're harmless. Their urge to feed can be powerful. That's why high command sent in commandos to investigate the monestary's distress signal

Kaidan: Magnified biotics, huh? Great

James: What's our strategy?

Liara: If there was a chance that the ardat-yakshi would break loose, then the commandos were to purge the monastery

Jane: Purge? You mean destroy?

Liara: They would have brought heavy explosives, yes

Jack/Grunt/Javik/Galahad: (Look at each other and nod)

Garrus: If asari high command believes this is a threat worth purging, then is that our goal?

Grunt: We'll locate the commandos and finish the job

Shepard: Only use the bombs as a last resort

Liara: Though, I'd like to know exactly who sent the distress call

Jane: I guess we'll find out soon enough

(Cortez drops everyone off and flies away in the shuttle)

Thane: There's heat coming off of that shuttle right there. Someone just used it

Ashley: Be ready for company

Kirrahe: Elevator is cut off

James: Question is, is it to prevent escape, or entry?

Shepard: We'll have to use an alternate method of transport

Galahad: I've got that one covered

(Galahad deploys a device that send a line to the top and bottom of the elevator shaft with grips and footholds to transport someone)

(Everyone goes down the elevator shaft one by one, and when they reach the bottom, they hear noises)

EDI: I'm detecting movement up ahead

Javik: I hear them

Jack: There's more than one?

Garrus: Guns up

Shepard: Stay sharp

(Everyone has their flashlights/night vision on to see in the dark, and they look around a large room)

Ashley: Not sure how I feel about the asari sending us to do their dirty work

Shepard: Like it or not, we need them on our side

James: Ashley's right. Asai command owes you big time. Shit, the whole galaxy does at this point

Liara: I heard something!

Grunt: I just tripped on something. Sorry

Jane: I've got bodies over here!

(Everyone goes over to Jane, who is near a door. They see the corpses of a few asari commandos)
