New Employment Opportunities

It's been two weeks since you moved to the outskirts of London with your two young brothers who had just turned 10 and 12.

Your stepfather died and a few years ago in factory accident and your mother succumbed to alcohol and drugs. She overdosed on opium three weeks ago, leaving you to look after your two young brothers.

You were 22 years old yourself and not ready to be a carer for these children. You had no money and women like you weren't able to take employment other than in a bar, factory or domestically. Domestic employment was not an option. After all, no one would want a maid with two young children.

Bar and factory work on the other hand didn't pay well enough to feed them and pay rent.

It was when you struggled the most, gathering groceries from local support networks, that you met a woman named Eloise.

Eloise was 24 herself and very attractive. She was a single mother to two young children, paid rent for a spacious house and owned nice clothes.

On Mondays, she would volunteer at the support network and you became to wonder how she could pay for this kind of lifestyle. Did she inherit money?

One day you asked her about it and she advised you that she was working at a brothel five nights a week. It was an upper-class brothel and was frequently visited by rich men, politicians and anyone who had money.

Accommodation and care for the children was provided in return for a wage subsidy. But, according to Eloise, it paid very well and she could afford even the fanciest meals on occasion.

She was provided with clothes and some customers were providing tips.

You asked her how many men she slept with per night. According to her, it varied. Some customers paid to spend the entire night with her while other nights she would have to service 4 or 5 men.

Every man was different, with different tastes. According to her, some of the customers would pay extra for unusual services.

You became to wonder if you could work as a prostitute. You only had been with two men before and did not necessarily enjoy sex. You also had limited experience. But, then again, you were a fast learner and work doesn't necessarily need to be enjoyable.

Eloise got you an interview with the mistress of brothel and, despite your lack of experience, you were offered a job three nights per week to start.

You were attractive and clean and certainly had a good taste when it came to clothing. You avoided drugs and your alcohol intake was limited. You were the perfect candidate for employment at an upper market establishment like this.

Nervously and somewhat reluctantly you accepted the job and, the first night, following your medical check-ups, you were simply watching other working girls and their clients to get an idea of what you were required to do.

These men paid extra to be watched and you even made half of your usual wage that night.

During that night, you learned five very important rules that came with the job:

· Rule One: Be polite and never call clients by their first name.

· Rule Two: Clients were not permitted to leave visible marks on your skin.
