"Beomgyu honey, I'm home."

Her voice sent a chill down his spine, you think after hearing his mothers call he would be grateful, nothing less of esthetic to see her. But no, for Beomgyu it was quite the opposite.

He raised his brows while wearing a frown, turning his head to the direction of the door. From there he studied her frizzy long brown hair and strangely enough lively looking skin. Beomgyu hasn't seen her with so much color in her face before, usually she's severally underweight and her skin looks fragile.

For a second there he didn't recognize her, even her eyes had a sparkle in them, the only thing indicting this was in fact his mother was the yellow hospital band tied around her wrist.

He slowly stood to his feet and ran his palms over his jeans, his lips became dry and he was at a lose of words.

Yes she looked extremely better, part of him wanted to grasp hope from that, but at the same time he was just too weary. It wasn't like her to stay healthy and clean for a long amount of time, he knew not to get attached to her good side because soon enough it would turn dark again.

Perhaps that's advice he should apply somewhere else.

"Well, are you going to hug me?"

Beomgyu noticed the almost fearful sound in her voice, as if she were just as nervous as he was. He faced his head down and now took his steps into her, letting the foreign women wrap her arms around him. The side of his face was pressed into her chest and for the first time, he felt warmth coming from his mother arms.

However, he still never cried from it.

"How has school been going for you?"

The two of them rested on Beomgyus bed, his legs dangled off the edge while playing with his fingernails. The sound of his nails scrapping against each other was all he could focus on.

"It's been alright, passing my classes." He spoke in short sentences as he really didn't know how to communicate with her anymore, she's been away for half a year and he decided to leave out the part that he is just barely passing as he used to be a straight A student.

"Well that's good, you always have been smart huh?" Beomgyu felt the slightest bit of annoyance growing from with in, he wasn't a child anymore yet his mother still used a tone as if he were.

"Anything else happen? Have you been taking care of your dad for me?" Beomgyu noticed how she slightly raised her hand as if she were going to touch him, but in the end she lowered it back down. He felt relief that she didn't, rather it was pat on the back or a side hug he didn't want to be touched.

"Yeah dads doing good."

There was a longing silence followed, tension he could feel between them. Honestly he wanted to continuing being alone, even though it was his own mother, she has inflicted a lot of hurt in his world. He wasn't ready to face her yet.

Knock knock

Both Beomgyu and his mother looked their heads up at the same time too see his father and her husband staring back at them with loving eyes.

For a second there Beomgyu got a glimpse of the past. Everything was surrounded in a warm peach color from the setting sun shining in through his window. His bed at the time was far to big and so his feet wouldn't touch the ground. His mother, and her full of youth face was sitting next to him, her hand rested on his thigh, it was so little it fit perfectly in her palm.

His dad then walked in, a smile much like he's wearing now was seen. However there was more euphoria in his old eyes.

"You have a good first day at school kiddo?" He questioned as he stepped closer to the giggling toddler. Back then Beomgyu shrieked out loud and rose to his feet to jump on the bed and then flung himself around his fathers neck. "Mmh! But I'm happy to be home." He cheered in a high pitch voice, feeling his his mothers warm hands trial up and down his back. He wore nothing but a truthful smile then.
