More Than You Think

Raphael's POV
When I got home I went straight to Donnie to explain what happened.
"How was the party?" He asked with slight annoyance. "It was fine but we may have a problem." I get straight to the point.
He stops what he's doing, "Is Amy okay?" His face looked panicked. I sat down, "She's fine, but (y/n) knows." Was all I said for the panic to change to a thick uncertainty.
"How does she know?" Donnie then asked, "I guess I stupidly took off the watch after we had sex-" we both look at each other for a second when he didn't say anything to that I continue, "and well in the morning she sees my true self instead of the human looking body."
"Did you just say... why would take off the watch?" He changed the subject back to the problem.
"I may have had a little too much to drink. And plus I've spelt in her bed before without it so I don't know if my drunk brain thought that it'll be fine forgetting the part that she thinks we're two different people." I rub my temples unsure what to do, she asked for space but I don't want her leaving me. She's been the only light in my life lately. Sensei hasn't been getting better which stresses me and my brothers out and Casey and April have distance themselves since we became close to (y/n) and her friends.
"What did she say?" He finally asked.
"That she needed time to process everything... how bad is the damage Don?"
"That's a good question, Uh, I'm sorry you had sex with her?" He finally reacted.
Rubbing the back of my head, "Yeah... do you think that makes it worse?"
He stops for a moment, "You had sex with her... did you use protection?"
I stop as well, "Fuck... no we didn't. Wait could I even get her pregnant I mean she's human and I'm not."
He drags his hand down his face, "did you, finish inside of her?" Now I start to feel panic.
"Yeah... Don what don't I know?"
"The same thing I'm not sure of. I'm not sure if you can get her pregnant because we are mutants but we became human like which is why despite begging a reptile we are warm blood like mammals. However we also don't know what our sperm would do to humans, it could possibly mutate them, or nothing could happen since it's not a full DNA sequence only half of one."
"Crap, how much of a possible mutation we talking about?" This is the second time we did it and who knows if we keep going at it she could mutate eventually.
"I'm not sure, I can't exactly test it. Even if I had a sample I would need a person to test on because if I were to try testing on a mice it could yield different results since we were originally animals not humans. I guess the question is how human are we really?"
"So having sex with her might have made things worse?" I then ask again.
My brother just shock his head, "Possibly, depends on what might happen to her and how she feels about you."
I groan in frustration, "Okay what do I have to do to help you figure out 'how human we are?" I then ask wanting to help and get answers if I possibly hurt (y/n) more than I wanted to.
Without looking away from his computer, "Call Casey and April see if they'll be willing to come in for me to collect samples. I'll compare their human like traits to ours."

"So you needed us here to see how human you guys are?" April asked as we waited for the results.
Casey nudges me, "Is it cause you guys are getting more serious with your girlfriends?" Donnie doesn't even try to hide it, "Something along those lines. We do have intimate relationships with non-mutants and before anything we should make sure that we won't be hurting them in a way we will not be able to take back."
April demeanor changes, "Are you guys sure that you want to continue these relationships, both of you are lying to them and eventually someone is going to be hurt. I know they make you happy, but what about them and what they want out of the relationship?" April had a point but nonetheless I hated it, "You wouldn't get it," I grumble out aggressively. "You have no idea how we feel and what they make us feel." I thought back to last night and the first time.
"Easy Raph, we'll figure it out. Who knows maybe you guys could find a way to become human." Casey sounded unsure about what he was saying only wanted me to calm down.
"We know that could never happen, our DNA is too altered that anything I come up with will only temporary. That's why we need to see how different we are... or if we're just similar enough." I thought back to the books that (y/n) has most of them are for people. She has some animal books.

Flash back
I look at her as she writes in her book about me, "Could I ask you something?" She closes it and focuses all her attention onto me.
"In your time of treating mutants how many times have you had to look at those animal books?"
"Honestly not too much. Mostly for anatomy but even then organs and and bones are usually in the same place as me. Even if they're aren't mammals, somehow they still have everything to be basically human. Same amount of hearts and in the same place."
"Really? So I'm more like you than a turtle?"
"Possibly, I'm not 100% sure, but so far yes."

End of flash back
"Just promise us you won't be disappointed if the results aren't what you hope for." April and Casey left after that.
"Who knows maybe they'll still chose us." I say mostly for myself.
