Chapter nineteen

Aurelia moves away from me on hearing Jim's fake cough with a slight blush on her cheeks.

Cute.

"What happened to you?" Emilia asked.

"Yeah..." Aurelia asked.

Just then Jeremy and his dad came out from the back room. I don't know why but he tensed up when he saw Emilia and Aurelia.

"You!" Emilia said pointing to him. "You dare hang up on me!"

"Uh...I'm sorry I... just... Panicked." He stuttered.

"Panicked?!" She starts advancing towards him. "You're gonna regrets that!"

"Wait!" Jeremy screamed blocking her punches "Lee hasn't explained himself yet!" He says bringing the attention back to me.

"So what happened?" Aurelia asked looking concerned.

"Well..." I adjusted myself on the hood of the car to get comfortable. "I'm going to explain but don't say anything until I'm done...and I understand if you don't want to hang out with me after this."

She gives me a slight nod signalling me to continue.

"My parents were leaders of a mafia. They betrayed a drug Lord they were working with...and tried to kill me." I stiffened at the memory but loosened up when Aurelia gave me a squeeze on my hand.

"The drug Lord gave them to the police but I had to work for him. I messed up in one of our missions and he got arrested. Two years later, I met this goof and his dad, Mr Kane." I pointed to Jeremy's dad who smiled at me. "They helped me a lot but last night... Don's men attacked me. Telling me that his out of jail...and coming for me." I breathe out in relief after my story.

"They also attacked me too" Jeremy says.

I look at Aurelia to see something...maybe the same look my parents had but I saw something different... different from my parents and Jeremy.
I liked it. It made me feel...loved. She held my hand and opened her mouth to speak when her phone rung.

She looked at it and tensed up. I saw it was her dad calling.

"Aren't you gonna pick up?" I asked but she shook her head.

"Why?" I asked

"Blake probably told him... he'll be mad at me." She said

What?

I looked at Emilia who explained what transpired at school. I look at Aurelia only to see her shedding tears.

"What is it."

"He also hits me..." She said sobbing.

"What?!" Emilia asked taking out her phone. "I never liked your dad but this does it. I'm calling the cops"

"What no!" Jeremy says taking her phone and running away trying to explain things to her.

I looked at Aurelia who is still sobbing.

"I'm scared Levi." She says. I wrapped my hands around her waist and pulled her to me hugging her while she sobbed into the crook of my neck.

"I won't let anything or anyone harm you again. I'm here and not going anywhere. I promise." She pulls away and looks at me.

"Thank you" she muttered. Her gaze moved to my lips and I found myself leaning in.

I pressed my lips to hers and...I felt a warm feeling enveloped me. It was slow and passionate. Her grip tightened around my neck as she deepened it.

She finally pulled away while I wiped her tears away.

"You're welcome." I whispered to her.
