All I need

Chapter seven

"She forgot to pay!" I exclaimed.

" Yes. But only because you never asked for it. You just stared at her then watched her leave." Jim says as a matter of factly.

"Well... she's supposed to know"

"Oh leave it. It's on the house." Jim says shrugging. "Now, you can tell me who that lovely lady is."

"No one, Jim. I told you already." I say going to sit.

"You don't just stare at no one like that." He pushes on "and seems she feels the same".

"What?! No way Jim. She's got a boyfriend"

"So you do like her "

"No I don't. I don't even know her"

"Then get to know her" He says sitting beside me.

"No I don't want to." I sigh. " Relationships aren't for me."

Jim places his hand on my shoulder.
"You can't keep living in the past Lee. Your parents were the ones at fault. Not you."

"It doesn't matter."

"But it does. Levi just because you feel that there isn't love doesn't mean it doesn't exist. You just have to open up to feel it."

"I gotta go. Thanks for the burritos."  I stand grabbing a burrito and leaving.

I get home, made myself some spaghetti and meatballs. I love cooking so it really wasn't a problem. After eating I laid down and tried to get to shut eye.

It's been a long day.

I saw myself on my bed. Six years old Levi. I was at home. The place I grew up in when there was a knock on the door. It was more like a banging. I got scared and unlocked the door to reveal my mum.
She dragged me by the arm down the stairs and out the door where dad was standing by the car. I got in the car and he started driving.   
I didn't ask any questions. I've learnt my lessons.

They drove into the forest and stopped by a cliff. Mum dragged me towards the cliff while dad brought the ropes. He started tying me up when realisation dawned on me. I started struggling and begging them to let me go. As usual, it fell on deaf ears. Mum slapped me across the face to shut me while dad tightened the ropes. I wondered what I had done to deserve this.

"DRRRRIIIIIIIINNNNGGGGG" the sound of my alarm woke me up from the dream...more like the memory.

I always wondered what I did wrong. I was innocent and they...

"No. They won't ruin my day. They're not worth it" I say my daily mantra.

I got ready for my second day at school. I was early so Jeremy was able to pick me up.

When we got to school, it was like we were walking on the red carpet. People kept staring.

"Is this gonna be a normal thing?" I ask Jeremy

"Better get used to it Lee. We're hot" he says grinning.

We decided to stop at my locker so I can get out my math book when someone approached us.
Blake.

"Slick, what's up." He says.
They were some guys behind him. We're these his minions? Pathetic.

"What do you want Blake?" Jeremy asks obviously annoyed.

"I wasn't talking to you, sideburns." He retorted "so Levi, you consider my offer?"

"You're beginning to get on my nerves"

"I just want you in the right crew, slick. You won't regret it"

"You don't run my life. Don't tell me what to do. And don't approach me with this 'offer' ever again...or I'll knock your over gelled hair into oblivion."

He stepped closer to me.

"You threatening me, slick? Not a smart move" His minions now moving closer too.

The students in the hallway had gathered around us by now. Unfazed, I only stepped closer.

"Threats are for empty vessels. I'm warning you. Stay away from me." I say sternly

He was about to say something but then someone came to him.
It was Aurelia.

"Blake that's enough. Let's go" She says holding his arm.

"Don't tell me what to do. This doesn't concern you Aurelia. Leave." He says pushing her hand off.

"I said let's go." She says holding eye contact with him then dragging him away. The crowd also dispersed.

"Such an asshead. I don't know what she sees in him" Jeremy says.

"I honestly couldn't agree more." I say lowly.
