Tox POV
I wake up back in my box, the one I was stuck in after the war because I had almost no money, well how does this one turn out? I open the "door" of said box, looking out to see where the heck I was, I'm on a, street corner? Wut? I begin looking around my box to see what I have. After a few minutes searching I find a old canteen cup, my wallet, and an old acoustic guitar my buddy gave me a while back. I decided maybe I could use some money, so I try playing some music on my guitar and singing, I decide on "Brown Eyed girl" by Van Morrison, mainly because I can't think of anything else I can remember lmao.
As I finish, I realize that there was a crowd around me, cheering me on and putting money in my cup, and I noticed a very certain someone in the second row. She was wearing a paperboy hat and a pair of oil-stained coveralls, all over a short sleeve work shirt. I don't know if she works in real life, bonus points if she does, I like that. She smiled broadly at me as the crowd dispersed, and she walked over. She tossed a $10 bill into my cup and studied me, looking at my height and general body proportions.
V: "Hey buddy, how old are you?"
Tox: "15, give or take a few months"
V: "Well Jaysus fook lad, what're ya doing on the streets so young?"
Tox: "Well I just got back from the war, got in with forged documents, and my parents disappeared after my siblings got killed."
V: 0_0
Tox: "yeah:
V: "Do you want a place to stay?"
Tox: "If you're willing to provide something then yes"
V: "Of course, I can't stand seeing a young man like you stuck out on the streets"
Tox: "Oh, uh, then I'd love to live with you until I can support myself"
V: "Alright, follow me then, gather your stuff up"
I did that, packing it up into my uniform pockets and duffel bag next to my deagals that were my father's and my hand-cranked radio, and maybe a few nudie mags I'd stolen from the Amnesty box over in Korea. As we started on our way to her vehicle, I get an uneasy feeling, like something was about to go south. Something good happened to me so something bad is gonna happen to counterbalance it, that was until she put her arm around my shoulder and hugged me to her side, and I got a feeling, one of comfort, and true safety, something I hadn't felt since before, my parents went missing. I can feel my eyes start to water, that was until she said something to me.
V: "consider yourself part of my family until move out, alright?"
I got a doofy smile, though you couldn't see it under my mask. I hugged my spare arm around her waist as we walked, soon getting to a large blue van with what were practically picture windows along the sides, very much the opposite of the Bang bus from Brazzers. She shops in the driver's side.
V: "just toss your bag in the back and sit up here with me"
Tox: "Yes mam"
V: "Not mam, mom, you're one of my children now"
I blush at that, having to call her mom despite the fact that she practically is my mom right now in this dream. Just enjoy it Tox, enjoy it while you can. I walk to the front seat and hop up into the passenger side seat, hoping to God that I don't wake up for a while. When she started the engine, Credence Clearwater Revival came blasting through the radio, Fortunate Son. I kind of like this one but it's overrated. She started rolling her eyes.
V: "my oldest son got a hold of my radio, fuck"
Tox: "lol"
She turned it to a different station and drove to her home, the same house I saw when I went to get my pay. She stopped the vehicle next to a BMW Isetta, who drives that? Whatever, she smiled over at me.
V: "I'll be inside, join me when you're ready"
She said and started walking inside, I got up as did. I walked to the back end to get my duffel bag. After I grabbed it I walked inside, where she was sat on the couch, well laying/sitting. She smiled and patted the spot next to her
V: "cmon bud, the couch is much more comfortable than the concrete or a vehicle seat"
I nod and put my duffel bag down, sitting down next to her, and very casually leaned over so my head was on her shoulder, she laughed.
V: "someone is in a cuddly mood I see"
Tox: "maybe"
V: "well cmon, we can cuddle like a normal family"
She hugged me, and started gently rubbing my back. I haven't had this since, well, ever, so I hug back, just trying to enjoy the feeling. Soon we hear a beeping from the kitchen.
V: "fuck, smoke detector needs to be fixed"
I chuckle, but, the world started fading to black before the dream could continue. Soon, I'm back in my bed, holding onto a fluffy pillow.
Tox: "......dis some bullshit"
