Kristen was in the garden watching the worms crawl around. She loved worms, so this was a good day for her.

Meg and Idina came into the garden with gardening tools and a pot of yellow marigolds.

"Is this where you want to plant your marigolds, Idina?" said Meg.

Idina nodded to agree.

Chad found Kristen in the garden watching the worms.

"Watching the worms, eh, Kristen?" he said putting his hand on Kristen's shoulders.

Kristen nodded.

"Well, Kristen, you might wanna move. Your sister and I are planting marigolds in this part of the garden" said Meg.

Kristen sadly moved to another part of the garden.

"Now, Idina. This type of dirt is called soil. Marigolds love that, especially when it has worms in it" Meg explained.

Idina hated worms so she cringed at the sight of them.

There were no worms in her current part of the garden, so Kristen sat there sadly. Chad approached her and cheered her up.

"Oh, Kristen, darling. There are plenty of worms out here" he said.

He took one of Meg's gardening trowel and dug up some more worms for Kristen.

Kristen let one crawl on her arm and laughed.

"They tickle, eh?" said Chad.

Kristen nodded.

"Well, the worms don't love tickling you as much as I do" said Chad.

He tickled Kristen's sides making her laugh even more.

"You know, Kristen... when I was a little boy, your aunt Jen would plant her flowers like you mum is now. And I would help her by making worm cakes" said Chad.

"Worm cake?" said Kristen.

"Yes, darling. The first time I did it, I stole everything Jen needed to plant her flowers and put them in my worm cake. She was about to tell on me, but then she realized I was combining what she needed to plant the flowers faster" Chad explained.

"Worm cake!" said Kristen.

"You want to try making your own worm cake? Alright then" said Chad.

Kristen crawled back to where Meg was and stole her garden trowel.

"Kristen. What are you doing with my trowel?" said Meg.

"Worm cake" said Kristen casually.

"Ew! Worm cake?" said Meg.

"I told her that I used to make worm cakes as a boy. She wants to try it herself" said Chad with a smile.

"Really, Chad? When I'm about to plant marigolds?" said Meg.

"She won't do you any harm, sweet" Chad promised.

"Okay. But use a different trowel" said Meg.

Chad and Kristen went back to their spot in the garden.

"Worm cake" said Kristen.

"Yes, Kristen. There are plenty of worms on this cake. But it needs a little something more" said Chad.

Kristen confusedly raised one eyebrow.

"Remember. Worms aren't the only thing needed for flowers to grow. They also need water, stones and plant food. That's what Auntie Jen used to grow her flowers" said Chad.

Kristen nodded and continued digging.

Idina and Meg had just filled a watering can with water.

"Marigolds need water just like you and I do, Idina" said Meg.

"Why?" said Idina.

"Because if marigolds don't have enough water, they'll shrivel up and die" said Meg.

"No die" said Idina.

"That's right, sweetie. Water also makes it easier to dig" said Meg.

When she wasn't looking, Kristen took the watering can and sprinkled the water on her worm cake.

"Now we dig out all this soil and save it. Then we put it around the marigolds and they get their nutrients from it" said Meg.

Idina found some stones in the soil.

"Good job, Idina! Marigolds love stones. Especially around the roots. They hold the roots in place so the marigolds can drink" Meg explained.

Kristen took every single stone Idina found and she put them on her worm cake.

"Okay. This is the last thing our marigolds need, Idina honey. Organic plant food. It's like the food we eat, only for plants" said Meg.

Idina liked the sound of that, but when she wasn't looking, Kristen put the plant food on her worm cake too.

"Now comes the most important thing of all. The marigolds" said Meg.

She put the marigolds in the hole she dug and said "Idina, could you put some water on them for me?"

Idina picked up the watering can, but she couldn't water the marigolds.

"No water" she said.

"No water? I thought we had some. Where are the worms, and the stones, and the plant food and the soil?" said Meg.

Chad came back and said "What's the matter, Meg?"

"I know I had everything my marigolds need. Where the are they?" said Meg.

Chad laughed a little and said "I think I know".

He pointed at Kristen and her worm cake.

"Kristen? What did you do with them?" said Meg.

Kristen showed Meg her creation and said "Worm cake".

"Kristen! You used everything for your worm cake. Now Idina can't plant marigolds in our garden" said Meg.

"Naughty Kristen!" Idina squawked.

"Chad Stuart, I'm surprised at you. Letting Kristen be so sneaky and take everything my marigolds need to grow" said Meg.

"I didn't let her, Meg. I told her to take it" said Chad.

"What?!" Meg snapped.

Kristen carried her worm cake over to Meg and tried to hand it to her.

"I don't want your disgusting worm cake, Kristen. I want the things my marigolds need to grow big and beautiful. Don't you know what they need?" said Meg.

Kristen nodded.

"Then..." Meg began.

Chad put his hand on his wife's shoulder and said "It's alright".

"How is it alright?" said Meg.

"Listen. Your marigolds need worms, soil, stones, water and plant food, eh?" said Chad.

"Eh" said Meg.

"Then Kristen sped up the process. In short, your marigolds need..." Chad began.

"Worm cake!" Kristen finished.

Then she put her worm cake around the marigolds.

"Oh! I see. I never thought of it that way" said Meg.

"Smart Kristen" said Idina.
