The Married Life of Chad and Meg

Meg's Gingerbread House

Summary: Meg and Jeremy are making a gingerbread house for Chad.

"A perfect gingerbread house takes careful planning, Jeremy" said Meg.

"I know, Meg. And I brought everything we need. Button candies, sugar wafers, candy canes, chocolate sprinkles and gingerbread" said Jeremy.

"Thanks" said Meg.

"Not a problem. And I know just the thing to stick everything together" said Jeremy.

"Worms?" said Kristen.

"Worms?" Meg and Jeremy laughed.

"Kristen, honey, Jeremy and I are making a gingerbread house for your father. There are no worms in beautiful gingerbread houses" said Meg.

"Now, Meg. Did you buy the ingredient I recommended?" said Jeremy.

"Yes, I did" said Meg showing him a bag of icing sugar.

"Perfect" said Jeremy.

"But how is icing sugar gonna stick our gingerbread house together?" said Meg.

"When we mix it with water, it'll be just like glue" said Jeremy.

"Oh, I get it!" said Meg.

She stirred the icing sugar in a big bowl while Jeremy added the water.

Kristen showed up again.

"Oh, hi, Kristen. Would you like to help?" said Meg.

Kristen nodded and her mother handed her the bowl of glue.

"Here. You can hold the bowl" said Meg.

Jeremy dipped peppermints into the glue then stuck them onto the gingerbread.

"Button candies make the perfect shingles for the roof" he said.

"Wow! You're right" said Meg when she looked.

Kristen took out colorful gummy worms from her pocket and said "Worms!"

"Eww!" Meg yelped.

"Oh, those are the worms you were talking about. They are rather colorful, aren't they?" said Jeremy.

Kristen smiled and nodded to agree.

"Yes they are. But I don't think we want your gummy worms in our beautiful gingerbread house" said Meg sternly.

She led Kristen out of the kitchen.

"What now, Jeremy?" said Meg.

"Now... now, you hold up the walls while I brush on the icing sugar glue" said Jeremy.

Meg did as she was told.

"Good. Now hold the walls together and press tightly" said Jeremy.

Meg pressed the walls together as tightly as she could then tried letting go.

The second she did, the walls collapsed.

"Oh dear. I thought it would work" said Jeremy.

"Maybe we need more icing sugar" said Meg.

Jeremy tried to grab the icing sugar bag, but Kristen scared him with her gummy worms causing him to drop the bag and spill some of the icing sugar.

"Oh no!" said Meg.

"Now, now, it's alright, Meg luv. We've still some more" said Jeremy.

"Oh thank god. Now, Kristen. I told you we're making a beautiful gingerbread house. Your gummy worms are not beautiful so please take them back" said Meg.
