Very short but still sweet and funny. Enjoy :)

Layla's POV
I walk downstairs to the living room and Mom and Dad are watching a movie. I sit on the couch opposite them.

"Hey guys." I say.

"Hi Layla." The both say and do a double take.

"Oh my fucking god!" Mom screams.

"What did you do that for?" Dad shrieks.

"I just dyed my hair." I shrug.

"You did a good job of it, I'll give you that." Mom says.

"Liz!" Dad scolds.

"What?" Mom shrugs.

"Are you going through something?" Dad asks.

"What's wrong with it?" I ask.

"You look like me in 2010!" Mom screeches.

"Aww, thanks Mom." I smile, hugging her.

"Layla..." Mom trails off.

"Why did you dye your hair, sweetie?" Dad asks, concerned.

"I just wanted a change." I say.

"I have no problem that you dyed your hair-" Mom starts.

"Really?! You have no issue with the fact our daughter now has black hair?" Dad exclaims.

"I don't care about the color, Michael!" Mom shouts.

"Don't fight over me, please." I sigh.

"We're not fighting, don't worry." Dad tells me.

"If this is how Layla wants to express herself then my only problem with it is that she didn't come to one of us, first." Mom says, raising her eyebrows at me.

"I'm sorry." I apologise.

"Who bought you the hair dye?" Dad asks.

"I did." I shrug.

"Annoyingly your hair looks really great." Dad mutters.

"I know." I smile.

Mom's phone rings.

"This is not over." Mom says looking at me before answering the face time.

"Heyyyyy Lizzy!" Rafael and Maddison sing.

"Guys, I'm kinda in the middle of grounding my daughter." Mom says.

"Why?" Rafael asks.

"Take a guess." I sigh.

"How would you feel if you had a daughter who came home one day with completely jet black hair?" Mom asks.

"Well I dye my hair every two months so I'd probably just compliment it and make her a snack." Maddison says.

"And it's me, so I would have dyed it for her." Raf says.

"You guys are not helping." Mom groans.

"Liz, don't you dye your hair like three times every year?" Maddison asks.

"She's got a point, babe." Dad whispers to Mom.

"You're not helping either." Mom says to him.

"Thank you, Mads." I smile.

"Yeah, you dyed your hair when you were Laylas age." Raf says to Mom.

"How do you know that?" Mom asks.

"We got bored on set one time and looked you up on Wikipedia." Rafael says.

"I didn't know you got your Broadway debut at 15." Maddison says.

"Stop stalking me. Why did you two call in the first place?" Mom asks.

"We're inviting ourselves round for drinks tonight." Maddison says.

"Of course you are." Mom rolls her eyes.

"Actually I was calling to ask you about pet cats." Rafael says.

"I'm the expert on cats." Dad smiles.

"Oh please, who names their cat Muffin Brains?" Mom asks rolling her eyes.

"You had a cat called Muffin Brains?" I ask Dad.

"I did. Your Mom wanted it to die though." Dad says.

"That is not true- you know what, Maddison and Raf I'll see you at 8." Mom says and hangs up the phone.

"Mom can we get a cat?" I ask.

"Layla, do you think right now is an appropriate time to ask me for a pet cat?" Mom asks.

"You're right........Is now an appropriate time?" I ask.

"Layla." Dad warns.

My phone pings and Mom and I stare each other down before fighting to pick it up.

Mom wins and as she hands me my phone, a message pops up.

"Layla, who's Jack?" Mom asks.

"I also might or might not of gotten a boyfriend." I say.

"Layla-Ariana Willow Gillies!" Dad exclaims.

"What is with all the secrecy recently?" Mom asks me.

"I was coming downstairs to tell you just now actually but you two decided to focus on my hair instead." I shrug.

"Who is this Jack boy and where does he live?" Dad asks, standing up.

"Michael, calm down! Layla is 16 years old for gods sake and if she wants a boyfriend or a girlfriend she can have one. What she can't have is black hair." Mom rants.

"Well that put me in my place." Dad mumbles, sitting back down.

"I thought you said my hair was nice." I frown at Mom.

"It is. I'm just upset that you didn't ask me first." Mom says.

"I'm sorry, Mom. I really am. I will ask you next time." I say.

"Thank you." Mom smiles.

"Next time?" Dad shrieks.

"Michael, get a grip." Mom says to him.

"Alright okay fine." Dad sighs. "Layla, your hair is very nice."

"Thanks Dad." I smile, hugging him.

"But I'm not happy about the boyfriend thing." Dad says when we pull back.

"Yes he is." Mom says.

"Yes I am." Dad says.

"How was your day?" I ask Mom.

"I had to be completely naked on set so you won't be watching this movie." Mom says and Dad and me laugh.

"What's for dinner?" I ask.

"We'll have food when Maddison and Raf are here so I'll make a lasagna for now." Mom says.

"I love lasagna." I cheer.

"Maybe you should invite Jack." Mom suggests.

"Maybe I will." I say.

"Yeah, I'd love to meet our daughters boyfriend while we have lasagna." Dad says through a fake smile.

"I'll call him in a minute. You wanna play?" I ask Dad, offering him the other games controller.

"Absolutely." Dad says, sitting on the floor next to me.

"Get ready to lose, Dad." I smirk.

"Layla, I win every time." Dad laughs.

"No, I kick your ass every time." I say, loading up the game.

"We'll see." Dad smirks.
