She sees the way he looks at her. It makes her blush. He sees the way she looks at him. It makes his heart ache.

Their eyes are forever meeting across the set and today is no different. The rehearsal seems to be dragging on and the cast knows that even once they finish, the day isn't over because they still have a table read to follow.

Liz is leaning against the lockers in the Hollywood Arts Hallway set, mindlessly watching Ariana and Leon messing around while Vic is taking notes from Dan.

"Hey."

"Jesus, Avan! I hate when you do that." Liz groans, clutching a hand over her heart through the black tank top she's wearing.

"I know, that's why I do it." Avan grins.

"Well, I would really appreciate it if you didn't." Liz says, turning back to face the cast.

"Alright." Avan nods.

"Thank you." Liz murmurs.

She doesn't notice as he leans forward and the smell of her perfume makes him feel intoxicated before he whispers in her ear.

"Boo."

"Avan Jogia! I mean it, okay. I'm not in the mood today." Liz tells him seriously and Avan gets the hint.

"Sorry McGillz. What's up?" Avan asks, trying not to take it personally as she turns and gives him her back.

"I told you, I'm not in the mood." Liz repeats, wrapping her arms around herself and rubbing her hands up and down to her shoulders.

"Here." Avan holds out his dark gray zip up behind her, ignoring her refusal to take his hoodie.

"I'm not cold." Liz huffs out. "But thank you."

She tries to ignore the way it smells like him and how soft the material is against her skin and how it feels exactly like one of his hugs. Up until this point, she's been so careful to keep her emotions away from work - the two don't mix. But now it seemed more like Avan was deliberately trying to make it harder for her. Just act professional.

And if Liz allowed herself to get caught up in those... feelings, it became a trap. Deep down, it was something she buried inside her heart because there was no way Avan would reciprocate her feelings for him. His view of the two of them is totally platonic. Totally. Platonic.

It wasn't even a crush anymore; it was far past that title. The word 'crush' connotes childish feelings and simplicity and there was nothing simple about Liz and Avan. There was no denying that. It's complicated.

And it wasn't childish. There's nothing childish about loving someone so much that you can't sleep if you haven't seen them that day, and even when you do sleep all you can dream about is that special person.

Her love for Avan was something she held so close to her chest that it felt like a secret. Even Ariana didn't know. Lorrie, her mother, had a few guesses about her daughters 'friendship' with Avan, but nothing more than guesses.

It wasn't so much shyness that kept Liz from sharing her thoughts with anyone, but more so pity. Everyone knew that an actor shouldn't date an actor. Everyone knew that best friends shouldn't date. Avan was both. They could never work.

"Liz? Liz Gillies? Are you even listening?"

Liz blinks a few times before taking in her surroundings. She's somehow managed to get through her entire scene while being in a total day dream. And now their director was yelling at her.

"I'm sorry, I'm tired. What is it?" Liz asks politely, despite her desperation to scream out in frustration.

"You had a blank face throughout that entire scene. Remember that we need your reactions too. You're still acting even if you aren't speaking." The director says, but Liz couldn't care less.
