Liz's POV
It's Christmas Eve and Michael is driving us to my Aunts house for a family get together."So, if you're Italian then will there be pizza?" Michael asks and I laugh.
"Not so much. It's normally a lot of fish and pasta dishes." I tell him.
"Well that sucks. Is George going today?" Michael asks.
"To my Aunt's house?" I ask and he nods. "All my family will be there."
"Hm." Michael hums. "We haven't spent Christmas with your family before."
"It's okay that you're nervous, Michael." I say softly, resting my hand on his thigh.
"I'm not. That's a lie. I'm sorry, I just don't want to screw it up." Michael rants.
"Hey, you're not going to screw anything up. What are you nervous about?" I ask.
"I haven't properly met your extended family before. I don't know what they'll think of me so that adds pressure... and it's Christmas Eve. I want it to be perfect, Liz." Michael sighs.
"Nothing is ever perfect, babe. And I'm thinking you should lower your expectations because this is a casual Christmas thing. To be honest with you, there's going to be so many people I don't think anyone will even notice you." I explain and he chuckles.
"I hope you're right." Michael says as he pulls up in front of my aunts house.
"I always am." I lean over and kiss his cheek.
"Remind me again of all the names of your relatives?" Michael asks and I laugh.
"You know my immediate family. My aunt's name is Laura, her husband's name is Mark and they're the only people you really need to know." I say.
"Laura and Mark, okay." Michael repeats.
"There might be a couple kids there, but they'll sense your fear and likely think you're too old to play Legos with them." I shrug, getting out of the car.
"Can you carry the desserts? I'll take the gifts." Michael says, picking up all of the gift bags from the backseats.
"Sure." I nod, grabbing the two trays of desserts and walking to the front door.
"Do I have to hand out all these gifts?" Michael asks.
"No babe. I will do that so please don't stress." I say, ringing the doorbell.
"Alright." Michael says slowly.
"Michael, it's going to be fine. I will be with you the whole time." I say softly.
The door opens and my maternal grandma is stood there.
"Liz, Michael! Come in, i miei amori." She smiles, taking the trays from me.
"Thank you grandma! It's so good to see you." I smile, closing the door behind Michael.
"Liz, where do I put these?" Michael whispers.
I take the bags from him and set them on the floor before taking his hand in mine and leading him through the hallway.
"Hi sweetheart! Happy Christmas." Dad smiles, taking my coat.
"Happy Christmas, Dad." I say.
"Hello Michael. How are you?" Dad asks, taking Michael's coat.
"I'm great thanks Dave." Michael says.
"Good. Lorrie, Elizabeth is here with Michael!" Dad yells.
"I'll go find her." I laugh, leading Michael through to the kitchen which is filled with people.
