I can't believe him! Why does he have to be so cruel. So full of life one second and so much hatred the next? I don't know what I've done to make him so upset to say something like that or to deny his feelings for me on the bleachers. He builds up this guard that only pushes people away. I've seen the real Flynn the soft spoken one who would do anything to protect the ones he loves. Does he not feel the same way anymore? Has this all been a lie?
"Woah." I almost crash into someone when I open the bathroom door.
"Romee, hey."
It was Kendal.
"Excuse me." She quickly says.
"No wait. How have you been?"
"Busy really really busy no time for friends really." She chuckles nervously.
"We should grab lunch sometime?" I offer, hoping she sees my sincerity. Ken had been my best friend since childhood. I was always more close with her than I was with Sienna.
"Romee." Her voice softens. "I don't think we can be friends not after what you did to Sienna and hanging out with those people..."
"Sienna should have saw it coming!" I defend. "Those people are good people Reece tried to hurt me—"
"What?" She sounds surprised as her eyes widen up.
"There was this party—"
"The one where you hurt your head Romee he didn't mean to."
"No. It wasn't then." I sigh. "Reece isn't who you think he is."
"Romee, can you meet me at Junes after school."
I nod my head. Now this was either a set up or I was ready to see Kendal as my true friend.
"I need you to drop me off at Junes Diner." I tell Collin. "There's someone I have to meet."
"Are you crazy?" Collin said. "Flynn will kill me, you might get killed, everyone's dying!"
"Collin relax, it's Kendal she needs to speak to me, I think it's important."
Collin takes a moment to breathe before he makes a decision.
"Let's make it quick I have to be back before anyone notices I even left."
"Can they ride with Zane?" I ask.
"Zane's distancing himself from us."
"Because of me." I say.
"It doesn't matter, your family now he needs to accept it."
Five minutes later Collin pulls into the lot of Junes Diner and I step out.
"I can wait here if you need me."
"It's ok, I have a plan. Tell Flynn I will be home later incase he asks."
"Of course." He nods. "Good luck."
I flash him a smile before turning my heel to face the entrance of Junes. As I walk in, the diner is empty so I find a booth and take a seat.
"Long time no see, what can I get you darling?"
"A water is fine for now thank you." I said.
"Of course, just promise not to dump it on anyone's head this time okay."
I nod, timidly.
Kendal walks into the restaurant and spots me as I wave my hand to signal her. I can't help but notice how afraid she looks. Is this what it feels like to be feared? But it's not me she's afraid of it's the friends I hang around with I know it.
