Hobi dedicated the last couple of weeks before the recital to his young men.  He worked them hard, requiring long hours of practice, demanding their sacrifice and dedication.  They gave it willingly.

One reason for their hard work was his unyielding faith in them.  The other was that he was in every practice with them, pushing his body to it’s limits.

One night he sat on the studio floor catching his breath as the boys bowed and left until finally, he was alone.

He took in the feel of the place.  He had purchased the small shop next door and had expanded to add a small practice room, dressing rooms and finally  showers.

He was staying later and later these days and the hot shower before heading home was worth the expense of the renovations.

He had the fleeting thought that he wished Izzy could see the new addition.

Then he cursed.

It had been several days since she popped in his head like that. He stared at himself in the mirrors and felt the rush of emotion fill him.

He rose to his feet and did a few steps across the floor.  He turned on his Playlist and began to bounce to the first song that played.  As always, he used dance to exorcize his demons and calm his spirit.

This night, after several series of hard movements he felt the music overtake him.

His body moved to the beat, steps flowing from one movement to the next. After a minute he stopped and set up his phone to record.  He knew he was creating something he wanted to keep.

Over and over he tried and discarded and created eight counts to the music.

He felt loss and grief and frustration pouring from him into his steps. This was his healing.

Sometime in the coming days as he added to this dance he decided he would perform this piece at recital.

After all this time he would perform again.  He refused to think that his shadow partner in this dance would never see it.

The final week of work and rehearsals dragged on.

Hobi had been afraid that the time would rush by and they would be left running to catch up as performance time came.  But everyone had worked so hard everything was standing ready and Hobi felt time was at a standstill.

His brain refused to acknowledge that he had spent all his time since Izzy left working  toward this night.

The blocks on his calendar starting Monday were blank. He had no idea what he would do then.

Hobi had left selection of his solo costume to the last minute.  He was torn between all white and all black.  Then one day while shopping with Taehyung they found a display of the latest Dior and Taehyung grabbed a pair of black Para military pants and a harness and a simple black shirt. Tae insisted on adding chains to his waist.

Hobi shook his head in the dressing room.

“ Tae….this is too…” Hobi tried to put his finger on it.

“ Too kickass? Yes.  Too sexy? Yes. Perfect? Yes. We’re getting it,” Tae answered, wondering off to collect a suit and a couple of hats he intended to buy for himself.

When Hobi was left alone, staring at himself in the mirror he had to admit it.  This fit his mood and the dance exactly.

The dance was about the war with yourself over what you want  versus what you get. Tae was right, it was perfect.

Because this chapter is so short, and because I am trying to hang on to this story for as long as I can and because one simply cannot have too many pictures of Jung Hoseok in this fit
