"Yes, not one of my more professional moments,” she admitted.
“Anyway, I confronted her with the details I had put together about where the company stood and asked her to buy me out. I made a very reasonable offer.”
Hobi sat up, intrigued by Izzy’s strategy.
“She started crying and begging and then when she saw that was not going to work, she tried to talk me out of it.”
“Then she called in Rege, who is now living with her in her Penthouse by the way, and asked him try to bully me into staying,”
At that Hobi bristled and she stroked her hand across his shoulders soothing both of them.
“And I listened for about five minutes. He was just talking to satisfy her. I decided they thought I was stupid and they intended to try to guilt me into staying.”
“It would have worked if it wasn’t for you Hobi,” she said, laying her head on his shoulder.
“Being here with you, being reminded of my skills and remembering who I could be outside my role as Olivia’s sidekick. I knew I could not be stuck there anymore.”
“I told her I wanted to dissolve the partnership and she would be hearing from my attorney. Then I folded up the life I had struggled for in New York and boarded that plane feeling more freedom and peace than I have in years.”
She rested then, thinking about how years of work and hurt and ambition had just been distilled into 5 minutes.
Hobi let the quiet sit between them as he gathered his own thoughts. He broke the silence by voicing his greatest fear.
“Do you regret it?” he asked.
She mulled the answer for several minutes and that gave him peace about her answer before she gave it. Izabelle was not someone to do something on impulse, especially something this critical.
Finally, she shook her head and he blew out a hard breath.
“I do not,” she answered, “and I will not. It was the right thing to do and should have been done a long time ago.”
“Hobi,” she said softly, “ I keep thinking I should have made this decision years ago and followed you on the next flight out. Look at all the years I wasted.”
He shook his head and pulled her in his lap to face him. She placed the palm of her hand on his chest so she could feel his heart pound.
“I know," he whispered, " I wondered about you often and dreamed about what it would have been like if I had stayed or if magically somehow you had appeared on that plane.”
“Want to know a secret?” He asked.
At her nod he bent close to her ear.
“I held that bear in my lap that whole flight, wishing it was you, mad because it wasn’t,” he confessed.
She sighed and kissed him, feathering her fingers across his face, surrendering to the claim of his lips on hers.
As he drew away, she told him how much it meant to her that he kept it.
“We can give it to our baby one day,” he said then blanched at the shock that crossed her face.
“Oh Shit!” he said, the realization of what he said hitting him, “Not that there IS a baby or that I want a baby…..well of course I want a baby….just… it’s Jin…..Jin wants a baby and….”
She finally recovered enough to stop him before he hurt himself.
“ Hobi…” she said, but he was not done.
“It’s just that maybe one day….” He nodded as he saw she understood.
“One day,” she agreed.
He laughed trying to calm his mind and his mouth. His heart was perfectly happy.

My heart is happy and sad all at once. Just one final chapter and Hobi and Izzy will have told their story! I always hate to see them go! But oh the glorious things ahead for these two!!! Only the best!
