The next day, Tiffany and I pull up to the school with sunglasses on and headaches to match. We hop out of her jeep, both groaning as we grab our bags and head inside. I dig in my purse, grabbing the two breakfast burritos my mom made me as I hold out one for Tiff. She grabs it as we walk, heading into the school with our glasses still on.

We pass a group of boys, seeing three familiar faces as we pass. Tiffany smirks and waves at Joseph, the guy who gave us the safety speech last night, as I hold eye contact with both Billy and Stu. I turn forward as we head towards my locker, passing another group with Travis in it. He glares at me as I scoff, walking up to my locker and putting in the combination.

I swing it open, pulling out my stash of hot sauce and giving Tiffany a few packets before grabbing my math textbook and notebook. I roll my eyes as Tiffany nudges me, warning me about who's coming. Tiffany steps up, crossing her arms as she sucks on her sucker.

"What do you want Travis?"

"To talk to my girlfriend..."

"Ex..."

I stand up straight, gently pushing Tiffany back as I look up at my ex. He looks at me as I hold out a chain. He looks at it in surprise, not believing what he's seeing. When he doesn't reach for it, I grab his hand and force it into his palm.

"Yo-you're giving the necklace back?"

"We are done....and yes...I'm giving the necklace back..."

I shut my bag into the locker before walking away with Tiffany right beside me. He stands there, watching me walk away as I face forward. I don't look back, only ahead as Tiffany rambles on and on about the male population in our school.

After my last class of the year, I'm heading out of the school with a smile on my face. I finished with straight A's and the highest test scores. Mr. Woods even said that I'm on my way to being valedictorian by the time I graduate.

"Bye, Christina!"

I wave at a girl from my English class as I walk towards Tiff's Jeep, all my notebooks in my left hand as my messenger bag rests on my shoulder. My sunglasses are on my face as I look up at the beautiful sunny sky and the green trees. An arm drapes over my shoulder as I stop, shoving whoever it is back.

"Whoa! Whoa! Sorry!" Stu laughs at me as he holds up his hands, smirking at me as he steps in front of me. "I just needed to ask you a favor..."

"Okay..."

I grip my notebooks as he stands up straight, looking at me with the same smirk. I wait patiently for him to continue as my own patients runs thin. He shifts on his feet, rubbing the back of his neck as he looks down.

"It's...actually quite embarrassing..."

"What is it?"

"I need a tutor....my grades have fallen. Bad. And the coach is threatening to throw me off the team completely if I don't get it straight for next year..."

I stare at him as he looks at me, waiting for my answer. I take off my glasses, squinting at him as I study his body language. I put them back on after he sweats for a moment, looking around and at me as he shifts back and forth.

"Sure. But I charge twenty up front per a subject and ten every hour of a session..."

"Uh...math and science are my worst..."

I nod as I pull out both of my notebooks from this last year. I open one up, reaching up and grabbing the pen from behind his ear as I write out my numbers. He stares at me in amazement as I finish with the last digit.

"Here...this is my cell number and my home phone...please always try the cell first. My mom doesn't trust the male species...but anyways. Just call me and we can set up a good schedule, okay?"

I smile at him as he nods, looking at me in confusion as he holds my notebooks. I look down, pointing at them as he does the same.

"I want those back, but you can look them over if you need. They're my notes for both classes from this last year..."

"Oh...okay. Uh...thanks?"

"No problem!"

I smiles as I tap his shoulder, walking past him as I see Tiffany filling her nails. She stops as she sees me almost to the vehicle, raising and eyebrow at me as I hop in the passenger seat.

"What?"

"You know what..."

——

We stop by blockbuster to pick out a few movies, mainly slashers considering that's Tiff's favorite. I spit Randy, my lab partner, stacking movies in the romance section as we walk past. I stop, putting on a smile as I walk up to him.

"Hey, Randy! Any suggestions for a good slasher fix?"

"Uhhh....we got the both candy man's...silence of the lambs if you want something a little more in depth...Arachnophobia if you want something a little more beastly...we also have some of the classics...Texas chainsaw massacre...Halloween...Carrie...nightmare on elm street....or if you want something that is a haunting surprise, I suggest the exorcist or any of the Amityville horrors..."

"You've had to say that a few times, haven't ya?"

"Yep...I also have one for comedy, drama, romance, and any other genre in this store..."

I laugh as he continues to restock the movies as I walk over, seeing Friday the 13th on the top of the pile. I pick it up, holding it out towards him as I smile.

"Can I get this one?"

"Yeah..."

"Thanks Randy!"

I kiss his cheek before rushing off, bumping into someone as I turn down an isle. I step back, rubbing my face as I look up to apologize.

"I'm so sorr-" I stop as I see who it is. Billy Loomis smirks down at me as I step back fully. "-y...I'm sorry. I didn't see you.."

He looks down at my hands, smirking more when he's what's in my hands.

"Slasher movie, huh?"

"Uh...yeah! My friend and I were going to watch it tonight..."

"Really? Because...I love that movie..."

He smirks at me as I gulp, mesmerized by his eyes. I feel an arm connect with my own as Tiffany smiles up at Billy.

"Well...I won't be able to come after all...my sister needs the jeep and my mom wants me home tonight anyways...why don't you two watch it instead?"

"Great! I'll be at your house around seven..."

He smirks before leaving, causing me to look at my best friend with my eyes wide.

"Tiff?! What the hell?!"

"You'll thank me later..."

She pops a sucker into her mouth as she smirks, winking at me before walking away.

"Come on...we need to get you home and ready for your movie date!"
