"Mija...who's here?"

I tense as my mom steps out of the kitchen, a plate of waffles in her right hand. I clear my throat, stepping back as she sees Bobby.

"Bobby! Is that you?"

"Hey, Mrs. Blu!"

"It's just Romas now...come here!"

She sets the plate of waffles on the side table, opening her arms for him to hug her. He steps around Sophia and I, smiling as he engulfs my mom in a big hug. Sophia is beyond confused, shock dripping from her face as she watches the boy hug my mom.

"It's been forever! What have you been up too?"

"I've been going to school and working at a mechanics shop in my free time..."

"That's great, Bobby! Have you been painting?"

Bobby takes a breath, shaking his head as he clears his throat. My mom is the person who taught him to paint. She showed all of us when she had to watch all four of us when we were younger. Now knowing why, I'm sure she's not the happiest about that time of her life.

"Not too much anymore, Ms. R..."

"And why not?"

"Guess I lost the drive..."

My mom shakes her head, sighing out as she turns back towards the food that she was bringing in. I share a look with Sophia, both of us shrugging as she scoops up the still steaming plate.

"Are you hungry? I've made extra.."

"I wouldn't want to intrude..."

"Nonsense. Now come on."

She drags him into the dining room, making me gulp. If he lets it slip where we were last night, the trip will be over and it'll be back to house arrest.

We follow my mom towards the dining area, taking my seat as the food is brought in by my aunt. She smiles a clearly fake smile towards Bobby as Tiffany and Bonnie take seats across from me. Sophia helps her mom while keeping an eye on Bobby and my mom.

"I've missed your chocolate waffles, Ms. R....definitely a comfort food for me."

"I'm glad you can have some!"

My mom smiles before passing him a plate with a large waffle on it. He dishes out some strawberries and banana slices, drizzling more chocolate syrup on top. I do something similar as soon as I'm passed my plate, trying to keep my cool.

Five minutes of silence fills the room, the only sound being the sound of eating. My Aunt clears her throat, drawing attention to her as she gives the sickly sweet smile.

"Bobby, was it?"

"Yes, Ma'am?"

"What brought you by this morning?"

"I was just getting my jacket back from Christina."

I freeze, shooting him a look as he glances towards me. I shake my head a tiny bit, only noticeable if you were looking at me. My Aunt glances towards me as I quickly look down at my food.

"Why would she have your jacket?"

"She was outside reading last night and I happened to walk by...we recognized each other and caught up a bit before we parted ways."

"That doesn't answer my question..."

"She was cold when we were talking so I lent her my jacket. I just forgot to grab it before leaving last night."
