"Chris...Chris...Christina

A soft voice wakes me, making me jump. Sophia stands over me, her shoes in her hand. Light barely peaks into the dark room as soft snores sound from behind me. I look around, realizing I'm in Stu's room.

In his bed...with his arm draped over my waist....

"Chris...we have to go. Now."

I don't say anything, just nodding. I slip out from under his arm as he rolls over. He cuddles the pillow I was just using, humming in his sleep. I sigh before looking around. My cloths are in place, just my jacket and shoes missing. I catch sight of both sitting on his dresser. Sophia grabs them, passing both to me before grabbing my arm and pulling out of the room.

"What time is it?"

"Before seven. We're lucky your mom is working a double. Let's get back home before she does, okay?"

——

"How was your night, girls?"

My mom asks as she walks into the house. Her scrubs are disheveled, her hair a mess on her head. I can tell by just looking at her that she had a rough night. I smile, flipping a pancake as Sophia dices up a chocolate bar.

"Good. We went to that party and were both in bed before twelve."

"That's good..." a yawn rips through her, one forced out by a sixteen hour shift. "I'm headed to bed...don't wake me."

"Yes, Mami. Love you."

"Love you too, mija."

I sigh, watching her disappear up the steps. Sophia and I share a look, going back to cooking us a hearty breakfast. I turn to flip the bacon as she moves on to the strawberries.

——

"Is she out?"

"Definitely."

I sigh, sinking deeper into the chair. We both eat as friends plays in the background. I wipe my eyes as Sophia chews up a bite of the pancakes. I grab a piece of bacon as she looks towards me.

"So...you slept in Stu's bed..."

"So what. We're friends. Plus the other beds were taken apparently."

"Really?"

"Yes." I give her a look before swallowing. "Besides. You have no room to talk. Who was the blonde you disappeared with?"

Her cheeks go red, a cough racking through her. She takes a large gulp of water before glancing my way. I raise an eyebrow, taking another bite.

"You saw that, huh?"

"No. But I did hear about it." I swallow, taking a drink of my juice. "So...who was it?"

"I don't know. I didn't catch her name."

She clears her throat, sending me an uneasy look. I take another sip of my juice as she sighs. I send her small smile, wiggling my eyebrows.

"Too busy to ask?"

"Shut up!"

——

"'Like a virgin...'"

I hum along to the music, folding clothes in my room. Sophia left a few hours ago, apparently the cheerleader decided to ask her on a little sleepover. Since my mom is none the wiser, she agreed with the thought that she just made a new friend.

I guess in a way she did.

I laugh to myself, tossing a bra to the side. With her out of the house and my mom once again at work, I get to spend the night alone. I toss another bra to the side, turning towards the radio. A snap outside makes me freeze, turning to look towards the window.
