After shopping tell our hearts' content, we head back to my house we're we put on a little fashion show for each other. With Sophia forcing me to attend a party, I want to at least look good. We leave the clothes in my room before heading downstairs and watching tv until my mom gets home.As we're watching a rerun of the Brady bunch, the front door opens and my mom walks in. She comes into the room holding bags of takeout from my favorite restaurant, a giant smile on her face.
"Mi hija! I got all of next week off! So we can go to the beach like you wanted to do! We can even stay at the beach house and go to that one cafe you love!"
"Wow..."
I smile even as pain slips in. The beach house is where my mom and dad met. He was renting it out when she was working for the landlord. When they got married, my dad bought it as a gift to my mom. We spent most of our summers there up until the summer before the divorce.
"Are you excited?"
"Yeah! I can't wait!"
I smile big at her as Sophia claps excitedly. Tiff looks sad but smiles at my mom as she claps herself and rushes off. I hear pots and pans being moved in the kitchen and know immediately what she's doing. I exhale as I sit back, twiddling my thumbs.
"What's wrong?"
I feel Sophia's hand on my shoulder as she scoots closer. I clear my throat again and rub my hands together, listening to the sound of Marsha Brady getting her way.
"Uh...it's nothing...just that the last time we went to the beach house...my dad cheated on my mom and my family started to fall apart...."
She gasps as she looks at Tiff, who nods as she looks at me with a worried smile. She scoots closer as she takes my hand and forcing me to look at her. Her smile widens as she speaks.
"What if we talk our moms into allowing me to come with you? We could turn it into a fun girls trip and cover up the bad memories...what do you say?"
"I don't know..."
"Come on! It's the perfect plan!"
Sophia smiles at me as I look up at them. Tiff starts to rub my back as she smiles at me.
"That's only if you want, okay?"
I look between them, gulping as I smile. Sophia has a large smile on her face as she grabs my hand, gripping it as her smile widens. Tiff rubs my back as she looks at me with a smaller, but just as beautiful smile.
"Well...I guess it wouldn't hurt to try...and Tiff would definitely make it better..."
"Christina!"
I get up as soon as I hear my mom yell, walking into the kitchen to see her taking out a container of food out of the freezer and setting it on the counter. She smiles at me as she wipes her hands and steps closer,
"Mi hija...why don't you invite some of your friends to go with us? It's a big house and you would have much more fun with friends...."
I give her a strange look before smiling and playing it off.
"Are you sure, Mom? You wouldn't want to spend your time with a bunch of teenagers..."
"Yes, but you would! And your Aunt Luisa is flying up this weekend anyways..."
"Wait...what? My mom's coming?"
I turn to see Sophia with a slightly disappointed look on her face as she looks at my mom. Tiffany is standing behind her with a small smile on her face as she watches everything before her.
"Si....she'll be here for about a week and a half...then she has to go back to Texas."
Sophia looks disappointed as she crosses her arms, looking at the wall as she thinks. I share a look with Tiff as she smiles at me. I look back at my mom with a smile, standing up straight as I prepare to ask.
"Mom? Can Tiffany come with us to the beach?"
"Mi hija...what did I just say? Invite your friends. That includes Tiffany...."
We all squeal as we jump up and down, excited for the coming week. I pull my mom into a hug as she laughs, patting my back as I squeeze her tight.
"Thanks, mom! I can't wait!"
"Okay...now I have to get ready for work. I'm working a double to prepare for my vacation..."
She pulls away and heads towards the stairs. She stops and turns, pointing towards the dish on the counter.
"That's dinner...put it in the oven for about an hour and it should be ready..."
We all nod as we wait for her to disappear upstairs. Once she's out of sight, Sophia leans closer with a smirk on her face as she whispers to us.
"This is perfect! She won't be here to stop us from sneaking out!"
"We still should be careful and act like perfect Angels until she leaves, okay?"
They both nod towards me as I turn on the over and stick the casserole dish inside to cook. I set a timer and grab a bottle of water before following the girls into the living room and sitting on the couch.

After getting dressed and ready, we lock up and walk out the door. We walk hand in hand towards Stu's house with smiles on our faces and laughter on our tongues. We pass a few parked cars with teenagers hoping out to get to the party of the night.
We get to the front door, laughing about something that Sophia said as I knock and wait for the door to open. I fix my dress as the door flies open, revealing a smirking Stu who looks at all three of us up and down.
"Well...glad to see you could make it! Come on in! The beer is nice!" He directs us inside as we all smile, thanking him as we pass through the door. "We also have snacks and other refreshments if you ladies want..."
"Thanks, Stu! Nice party, by the way..."
"Ah...This one's nothing...you should see my Halloween parties! Those are real ragers!"
I smile at him as he guides us through the mass of teenagers in the way. A drunk boy from my math class rushes over, yelling as he throws his hands in the air. Stu laughs as Sophia, Tiffany, and I all watch him in confusion.
"Wooooooooh! Party time!!!!"
He rushes off again as people all laugh and cheer around us. Stu drapes his arm around me as he guides us towards his kitchen, a smile on his face as we move. When we get in there, he grabs four shot glasses and a bottle of tequila off the counter. He pours them, giving us all one as he holds his up.
"Party time!"
He takes his shot as we all prepare to take our own. Tiffany raises hers, toasting the air as she readies herself. She looks at us, waiting for us to do the same as Sophia and I prepare.
"Party time..."
"Party time..."
"Tiempo de Fiesta!"
We all take the shot as Stu watches us, a smirk on his face. The liquor runs down my throat as I scrunch up my face, forcing it down. We all slam the glasses down as we deal with the aftermath of our decision. Stu raises his arms as he points to us, a giant smile on his face.
"It's party time!"
