The sound of something scratching at my door woke me up. I opened my eyes and looked through the glass door to see the little brown wolf sitting on the deck. I crawled out of bed and opened the door for him to come in. I locked the door behind him and he followed me back to bed; I glanced at the clock to see it was just past twelve.
"It's a little late for you to be out don't you think?" I asked the wolf.
He responded by simply nudging my hand, encouraging me to pet him. I got myself comfortable under the sheets and pet the little brown wolf until we both fell asleep. I was completely lost in my dream; running hand in hand with Amaro through a field of flowers.
"Ggggrrrrrrr" The little wolf growled beside me jumping to his feet, waking me from my dream.
"What the hell!" I said started as I started to come back to reality.
I opened my eyes to see the little wolf standing on all fours on my bed beside me. The hair on his back stood straight up and he looked like he was ready to attack something. He slowly started backing up pushing me further back on the bed, away from the door. I stressed my eyes trying to see what the little wolf could see through the window but I didn't see anything. The little wolf hadn't stopped growling since I got up, and it seemed to be getting fiercer; this was really starting to freak me out.
He pushed me further back onto the bed until my leg fell off and I tumbled to the floor. I nervously peeked my head over the edge of the bed and focused on the door. 'I don't see anything, what is going on? Why is he freaking out like th.........' My thought was cut off when a figure of a man appeared outside my door. I gasp as my air caught in my throat; unable to scream. The little wolf was going crazy on the bed growling and I could hear my sheets tearing as his claws dug into them.
The figure outside wiggled the door knob to find that it was locked; I was still frozen behind the bed, unable to move, unable to talk, unable to keep my eyes off the figure outside. There was a loud crash as the door flew open and the glass shattered across my bedroom floor. The little wolf launched off the bed and had the man by his throat knocking him to the ground. The man grabbed the little wolf by the back of the neck and flung him off the balcony. I felt a tear fall down my face when I heard his body hit the ground and he let out a little yelp.
Oh my god! What is happening? The little wolf.. He's probably... I didn't have time to finish my thought before the man appeared next to me and grabbed my arm pulling me up then slamming me against the wall.
"Jordan!" I managed to spit out; although my throat was dry and the words were just a whisper.
"Ali," he replied arrogantly.
"Wh... What are you doing here?" I couldn't stop myself from stuttering.
"I came here for you," he said all matter of fact like.
"Why?" I asked confused. Me, why would he want me? Why did I seem to attract vampires?
"Because you killed my brother," he growled out through gritted teeth; his grip on my arms tightened and he pressed my harder into the wall.
"You must have the wrong person Jordan, I never killed anyone," I pleaded with him; hoping he would let me go, but knowing deep down that wasn't going to happen.
"You might not have personally killed him, but you got him killed. Your little wolf friends out there finished off the job for you," he said still not loosening his grip.
It was then that I heard a faint howl coming from the back yard. A small burst of hope filtered through me that the little wolf was still alive; if he was alive then maybe someone could save me. I heard Jordan let out an annoyed huff of air.
"Well I guess I won't have time to play games with you after all Ali, we will have to make this quick," he said as his canines extended and his eyes grew black.
Fuck this was it; this was the last breath that I was going to take. I thought that maybe I would be able to watch my life flash before my eyes, maybe even visions of my mother; but I didn't get any of that. Instead I watched as a wicked smile spread across Jordan's face as he pulled my hand up to his mouth and sunk his teeth into my wrist.
The pain was excruciating, it was like nothing I had ever felt before. The pain started in my wrist then slowly started moving up my arm inch by inch. My body grew weaker and weaker by the second. My eyes stayed focused on Jordan's face as my blood began to run down the side of his mouth. He pulled away and the pain in my arm intensified; I watched him wipe the blood for his face with his finger then lick it off. There was a flash of black fur and my body fell lifelessly to the ground. My eyes stayed open long enough to see two blue eyes staring back at me then everything went black.
I couldn't see anything but I could still hear things that were going on. I could hear the deep growls and snarls coming from the wolves; I heard piercing screams from Jordan as his flesh was being ripped from his body. The sound of bones crushing echoed off the walls, and I could hear glass being crushed under feet, or maybe paws, I'm not sure. Then everything was silent; I must be dead.
"She's bit!" I heard Amaro's voice somewhere in the room.
When did he get here? I tried to call out to him but no sound came out. I tried to move but it was like my body was full of cement. What the hell is going on? I still couldn't see anything, I couldn't feel anything either, my body was numb; all I could do is hear.
"How long ago?" I heard my father ask, 'Daddy!' I wanted to call out but my body wouldn't let me; I felt so helpless.
"I don't know maybe five minutes at the most; It had to of happened right before I got here," Amaro said back.
"Get her in my office," My father demanded.
I couldn't feel my body being moved; but I could hear the footsteps under me so I assumed I was being carried. I could hear my fathers and Amaros voices talking somewhere but I couldn't make out what they were saying; I could just tell that they both sounded upset. There were more voices now, but I couldn't tell who they belonged to. Everything was getting quieter, the voices were fading out; then there was nothing, I was gone.
