Dallia's POV 🌼
Ha-Kun called me a week later and asked to start the background checks for my application, and I was thrilled. It took all of me not to get my hopes up too much, but a few weeks later, Lily called me with the good news that if I signed all the paperwork and NDA, everything had checked out, and the space was mine to lease. I was so excited when they emailed me the information and contracts; I signed and sent them back immediately.
When Lily called to tell me I could come to get the keys this afternoon, I was so excited!
"Come on, Binna, we are going to go get the keys to the new space for my business!"
"Ooh, okay, but can we go another day? I'm tired," Binna yawns.
I roll my eyes at her, "Nope, mother isn't going to be home for another hour, so you are coming with me. Come on, get up!" I announce while grabbing her hand. She sighs and then smiles at me, giving in.
Binna can be a total love bug, but she can also be incredibly stubborn when she wants to be, so I am happy she isn't giving me a hard time. We drive without incident to Rogue, and before long, we enter the building stopping at the front desk where a gorgeous dark-haired beauty sits.
"Hi there, my name is Dallia, and I'm here for a set of keys?" I ask shyly.
"Oh yes, hi there! I'm Ari; it is so nice to meet you," she says warmly.
"I'm Binna! I'm Dallia's sister. What's your job?" Binna cuts in, and I smile at Ari in hopes that she will be kind.
"Well, hello, Binna. I am an assistant here at Rogue Records. I make sure things get taken care of around here, and I'm sure we will see each other often!"
I sigh inwardly, already at ease. Everyone I have met at Rogue has been exceptional, and I'm realizing that seems to be the standard around here which is a relief.
"Oh, good!" Binna replies while her eyes dart around, taking in her surroundings.
"Here you go, Dallia. These are the keys to your space," Ari says while coming around the desk and showing me to a set of glass doors on the other side of the entryway.
'You just turn the key like this and ta-da. It's all yours. Congratulations!"
"Thank you so much!" I beam while taking the keys from her hands.
Ari nods with a warm smile and returns to her desk, and I usher Binna in.
"I will show you around so you can see what it looks like now, Binna. I have some painting and soundproofing to do before I re-open, but I can have Uncle and his crew come to help me with the work."
"That sounds like a good idea!" Binna agrees as she looks around at each room.
I take her to the biggest conference room and prop the door open.
"Binna, what do you think if I fixed this room up to be our new chorus space for you and our friends to sing in?"
"Wow, this is so much bigger!" she says excitedly, looking around with wide eyes. "I love it! I wonder what it will sound like in here...."
"Let's find out!" I smile.
I break into the chorus of Lauren Hill's "Everything is Everything," and the bluesy tones of my voice lift up into the air. As I'm belting it out into the room, I find that the acoustics happen to already be pretty good in this space. Binna starts to dance happily with her arms out, as she has always done since I first started singing to her when I was just a little girl. It warms my heart to see her dance with abandon around the room as I sing my heart out.
