Ciel groaned as his butler drew open his curtains. The morning light was far too bright for the young Earl as he pulled his covers over his face. Whatever time it was, it was too early for him to be awake. Ciel had found himself staying up late last night, waiting for Y/N to come home. But the excitement of the last few weeks and that Easter holiday had taken their toll and the Earl finally turned in around midnight. Y/N had a nasty habit of staying out far past the Earl's bedtime, which had always agitated him as he waited for her return. But he didn't last night.

Y/N was a capable young woman, she could fight and stick up for herself easily, and Ciel knew deep down that she wouldn't have gotten into a row with Grelle Sutcliff. Y/N forgave her friends too easily for that. Ciel had also turned in early because he had no desire to see Y/N with red lipstick smudged on her disheveled clothes. Whatever she did on her nights out was none of his business, even if it included Grelle. It might've made both him and Sebastian uncomfortable, but he certainly wasn't going to stop her, and he found it safe to assume that Sebastian wanted nothing to do with Reapers. Maybe now that something had happened between Y/N and Agni she would give up on the Reaper as her friend with benefits. But really, who was to say. Y/N would be Y/N.

The Earl finally gave into waking up and peaked out from under his covers, rubbing the sleep from his eyes. "Good morning, young Master." Sebastian bowed as his master yawned.

"What is on today's schedule, Sebastian?" Ciel asked as he stretched.

"Well..." Sebastian fell silent. Sebastian never fell silent when that day's schedule was the topic of conversation. The demon tended to have every day planned down to the last minute. Ciel knew instantly something was wrong.

"Don't tell me she came home positively drunk," Ciel grumbled, unfortunately imagining Y/N stumbling up the manor's stairs completely shit-faced. It had never happened before, but with how much she had grieved and been depressed these last few days, Ciel could see Y/N overindulging in liquor. Especially if Grelle Sutcliff was there to egg her on.

"She did not," Sebastian assured his Master. But something was still wrong.

"She wasn't hurt, was she?" Although Y/N's body surely would have recovered by now, she would probably spend the day moping about like a mess if Grelle and her fought.

"I," Sebastian paused, "I do not know."

"What do you mean?" Ciel was definitely awake now, pulling his covers off and getting out of his bed in a hurry. "Was Y/N hurt, yes or no, Sebastian?"

"I do not know, sir. I haven't seen her all day, or since she left last night, for that matter." Sebastian looked almost guilty as Ciel pushed past his butler. "Young Master-"

"Y/N!" Ciel shouted as he stomped out of his room and down the hallway. "Y/N, are you in there?" He shouted at her closed door. When he received no answer, the Earl began to pound on her bedroom door. He was not going to let her shut herself in her room for another week. No matter how badly her night had ended, she was going to face him. "Y/N, open your door!"

Still, there was no answer from inside the room as Sebastian tried to stop his master from banging on the Lady's door. But Ciel drowned out Sebastian as he yelled, "Y/N, unless you open this door yourself, I'm coming in!" He waited only a few seconds after delivering his threat before the Earl turned the Lady's bedroom doorknob.

Much to his surprise, it wasn't locked. The door opened with ease to reveal an empty bedroom. Her curtains were shut, her bed was made, and her wardrobe seemed to be in order. The room looked almost completely void of any occupancy, aside from the bit of makeup that had been left scattered on the vanity. After a moment of staring in shocked silence at the Lady's empty room, Ciel turned to his butler, furious.
