It hadn't even been an entire day since the Fire of Violet Wolf House, and yet there were already millions of theories about who could've done it. Students from all Houses, even Violet Wolf House, were rumored to have set the fire. Some believed it was to postpone the Cricket Tournament because their House needed more training, and others thought that maybe someone had been trying to cancel the whole Tournament all together. And most disturbingly, there were some that believed the arsonist's goal had been to eliminate the competition by putting Purple House permanently out of commission.

Thankfully, however, Y/N was yet to hear a rumor that the fire had been set to flush out the five missing boys who transferred over to Purple House. She had been a bit worried that someone might put it all together and realize that James Brewer and Ciel Phantomhive had only recently begun attending Weston, had instantly asked questions about Derrick Arden, and then a fire broke out in the House where Arden was supposedly transferred too. Y/N wasn't dumb enough to think that it was impossible for someone to have put it together, of course. But she also understood just how much one's reputation mattered at Weston. No one had suspected Maurice of being a pathological liar, simply because he was Redmond's Fag. So even if someone had connected the dots, they might dismiss Ciel and 'James' as suspects because one was the Fag to Clayton and the other was his darling, poor best friend.

Unfortunately, it seemed the fire hadn't been worth the risks it yielded after all. Derrick Arden and the four other missing boys had not been seen evacuating the burning building, nor had they been seen after the fire had been put out and during the Purple House boys' relocation. And it was already very clear that the P4 themselves were going to be of no use for the investigation. They were all clearly tight-lipped on the subject and when Ciel and Y/N had last tried to pry even just a crumb of information out of them, the P4 almost bit their heads off. Violet especially. And to make matters worse: the P4's Fags were very obviously in the dark about the whole incident, along with what seemed to be like the rest of the school. So Ciel and Y/N couldn't even rely on Edward, McMillan or the staff. There was only one person left for them to interrogate about the subject.

The Headmaster had managed to stay completely illusive during Y/N and Ciel's stay thus far at the college. He had been 'busy' their first and second days, and presumably he was still 'busy' because he didn't even make an appearance after the fire. He had been unavailable by all accounts it seemed even before Y/N and Ciel arrived at Weston. And the only people allowed to see him were the P4 and their Fags at the 'Midnight Tea Party' he hosted. And seeing as neither Y/N nor Ciel were either a member of the P4 or one of their Fags, they were without an invite. Ciel had proposed simply doing away with Clayton and replacing him as Bluewer's Fag, but the idea died before he even finished saying it. That would be much too suspicious for even Y/N and Ciel to lie their way out of, and Y/N was also trying to harm as few people as possible. The fire had proved to be a bit too much a bit too soon for her, which had been completely understandable.

"What a relief yesterday's fire was put out quickly!" One of the boys who had taken to following Y/N and Ciel around said to his other friends.

"But there are rumors that it was an act of arson. How frightful," his friend shuttered.

"Will the Cricket Tournament on the Fourth of June be called off, do you think?" Another boy asked, sounding rather worried.

"But it's a legendary Weston tradition, you know? It'll definitely go on as planned," McMillan insisted, looking somewhat offended that a fellow student might think that Weston would cancel something involving tradition.

"Well, there's little hope of Blue House winning anyway," a fourth boy sighed as he put his hands in his pockets.

"Well, we can't win with an attitude like that," Y/N said as she ruffled the boy's hair. "Come on, keep your head up! We might get lucky this year."
