With Lau's show of girls behind her shoulder and Greenhill standing before her, ready to hit whatever came his way, Y/N drew her arm back. Once again, she bowled with all her might. But instead of flying straight, Y/N's bowl twisted and turned, a flawless and unpredictable curve ball. It cut through the air, swerving low near the ground with a whistle, and before anyone even had the chance to blink, it ricocheted off of the ground and flew straight through Greenhill's legs into the wicket with a crack as it knocked over all three poles. Though, it seemed that the entire show of a good bowl was completely unnecessary, because the girls had done their due diligence and distracted Greenhill during his turn. Their short skirts and unbuttoned tops had managed to make even the best cricket player choke and turn bright red, which was no one's fault other than his own if he was so feeble-minded as to be distracted by a bit of skin."Out!" Cried the Umpire, much to Green House's distress and dismay. It shook them down to their cores that even their beloved Team Captain could be so easily defeated. But it made Y/N and Ciel both smile. The little Earl hadn't been sure of Sebastian's plot to entrance the other team with Lau's harem, but he couldn't deny the effectiveness of their appeal to the boys who could see them.
However, it seemed that plot was being shot down almost instantly because a man from the audience marched over to Lau and his ladies shouting at them. "I am telling you to leave," he said, sounding rather exasperated, which was to be expected of anyone having the misfortune of speaking with Lau.
"Oh, I English no good understand!" Lau replied with a high smile and a shrug. And although it signaled the end of their little plot, it made Y/N chuckle to herself knowing that Lau pretended not to know English in order to get out of trouble.
"You cannot attend a cricket match in such indecent attire!" The angry man yelled as he prepared to physically remove Lau from the audience himself.
Both the Earl and the Lady were disappointed in this development, but when they looked over to the Green House sideline, they noticed that the boys seemed to be disappointed. Clearly none of them had been the snitch, so who had it been? If Y/N didn't already know the plot, she probably wouldn't have truly been able to guess who it was, but thanks to her black and white pages back home she knew it was Maurice who was the rat. If she wasn't busy destroying Green House, Y/N would've gone behind the bleachers to where he was hiding and taken care of him herself. Sadly, however, she was rather preoccupied with the game.
It didn't take long before it was time to switch sides. After the display was shut down, the Green House began to rack up many more points. If bowlers didn't have to be changed out so often, Y/N could've easily stopped the Green House from earning more than ten runs. But sadly the rules of cricket demanded that the bowler be switched out every six bowls, which meant that Y/N would have to let her teammates bowl in intervals between her own shots. By the time ten overs had passed, the score had been leveled out to 60 to 52, Blue House only leading by eight runs.
"Ten overs! Switch!" Called out the Umpire as the scoreboard was updated for the final time.
"We've barely avoided getting the tables turned on us," Clayton said, almost sounding impressed.
"But they're catching up faster than we thought they would," Ciel pointed out, still sour that Lau had been evicted from his seat behind the bowler.
"If we don't score more runs in the next inning, we might as well throw in the towel," Y/N sighed, knowing that this next inning would be critical for Blue House if they really wanted to stand a chance at creating a second Miracle of the Sapphires.
As the Blue House finished preparing themselves for their strategy for this inning, Green House could be heard storming the field and clamoring. "It's the first half of the second innings. We'll keep our losses to a minimum!" Greenhill shouted to rile up his teammates, all of which still had pink-tinted cheeks. Despite the fact that the women had been cleared from the field, the Green team was still embarrassed by their performance during their time at bat. And Y/N couldn't blame them.
