Bold = Translated German provided by the manga because I don't speak German
There was a group of children playing in the busy market street. They were laughing and talking loudly in German amongst themselves as they kicked around a ball. Y/N was watching them, uninterested in the arrangements between Ciel, Sebastian and the German Farmer as the noble and his butler prepared to take his horses and cart off of his hands. The boys were kicking their ball back and forth when one accidentally punted it past his friend. The ball rolled over the worn stone and dirt road before coming to a stop at Finny's feet. The strawberry blond boy perked up when the ball tapped his boot's tip. He smiled brightly to the boys as he picked it up.
"Excuse me!" Called out the boy who had kicked the ball. "Please throw us the ball."
"Sure!" Finny replied with a grin that reached his sparkling teal eyes. "Here you go!" And while his intentions were as pure as the sunshine that seemed to radiate from Finny's smile, he accidentally threw the ball a bit too hard and nearly took off the boys' heads. "Sorry, sorry!" Finny apologized to the boys profusely as they scampered after their ball.
"Do you understand German? -Asks Donne," Snake asked as Y/N walked over to the servants to wait with them as Ciel and Sebastian concluded seeing to their arrangements.
"Ah, yep. A little," Finny admitted with a shy smile.
"He knows more than a little, he's just being modest," Y/N praised Finny as she grinned and ruffled his hair. The Gardener's red hair clips kept his bangs somewhat in place as he beamed at Y/N. "He's been teaching me for a while."
Before Snake could ask another question, Sebastian gathered their attention by calling out to the servants. "Everyone," he addressed them. "We have secured a carriage." Sebastian gestured to one cart behind him being drawn by two chestnut horses. "Load the luggage onto it, if you would."
"Yessir," Bard nodded before he, Snake and Finny began to pick up the trunks they had all been leaning against. Finny was able to shoulder several with ease as Bard and Snake both struggled to pick up one trunk at a time.
"My Lady," Sebastian turned to Y/N, holding out a hand to guide her to the second carriage, which was connected to one white horse. Ciel was already seated in that carriage, waiting for Y/N to take the seat beside him with a prideful smirk.
The forest was eerie to say the least. It didn't take the carriages long to get swallowed up by a sudden and thick fog. The air smelled both dull and heavy as the horses clopped on, pulling their loads behind them. The sound of the bushes and underbrush rustling was unsettling enough as it was, but the fog making it impossible to see what was scampering through the brush made it even worse. Occasionally a bird would call out, its shrill cries and haunting songs echoing through the thick woods. The only people who appeared to be undisturbed by the creepy atmosphere were Old Man Tanaka, Ciel and Sebastian, as all the other servants and Y/N were very offset by the sudden change in setting. It hadn't taken Y/N long before she thought about taking the reins from Sebastian and marching them right back out of the forest in which they were now stuck in.
"S-So this is the Werewolves' Forest," Y/N heard Mey-Rin whimper as she trembled while keeping a watchful eye out from behind her lenses.
"It's creepy," Finny shivered from his seat next to Mey-Rin in the servants' carriage.
"Man, I get why people say it's cursed," Bard muttered as his cigarette was finally put out by the sheer amount of mist in the fog they were trekking through.
None of those sentiments made Y/N feel any better, causing her to shift uncomfortably in her seat, which did not go unnoticed by Ciel. The Lady's eyes darted from tree to tree, and her head would snap in the direction of whatever sudden noise she heard came from. And to make her anxiety worse, Sebastian added with a smirk, "The compass has begun to drift."
