For all my lovely readers who are with their insufferable families on this fine day. Pretend this is a reading for English class and escape the madness. Or if you're spending time with people you love, party all day and read this right before you go to bed for some heartwarming fluff. Well, maybe not fluff... But I can promise it isn't angst <3
The sudden light and rustling of the curtains being drawn back woke Y/N up with a small gasp. Her eyes hurt from the bright sunlight now streaming into her room, and the white comforter she pulled over her face was doing little to help. She heard her butler chuckle as he walked over to her bedside. "Go away, Sebastian," the Lady groaned as his shadow was cast over her, temporarily blocking the sun.
"I'm afraid I can't let you oversleep today, my Lady," the butler apologized as he pulled the comforter off of her head. Y/N just glared up at him.
"My head is pounding," she muttered as she finally gave in and pushed herself up to sit. Y/N's head had been aching since last night and her eyes felt heavier than cement blocks. She had been staying up until the early hours of the morning for a week, and it was finally starting to catch up to her. "This case keeps dragging on and on. It's getting to be ridiculous."
"I couldn't agree more, my Lady." Sebastian began to pour his master a cup of her favorite tea. He handed her the cup and saucer before he shook two pain pills loose from their bottle. "For your head, Master," the butler said as he placed the two pills into Y/N's open hand. She swallowed them quickly and washed down their taste with another sip of tea.
"Has there been any new activity from our killer?" Y/N asked her butler as she took notice of the folded newspaper sitting on the silver tea cart Sebastian had wheeled into her room.
"I'm afraid there has," Sebastian sighed as he placed the newspaper into Y/N's waiting hand. The paper ruffled as the Lady unfolded it and began to scan over the front page. A scowl appeared on her face as she read the bold print and looked over the gruesome picture on the cover.
"Jack the Ripper strikes again," Y/N read aloud. "I'm afraid my patience has been worn quite thin by the press. Naming a killer," she scoffed, "how many times has the Yard told them not to? Now his ego is bound to be gigantic. Acknowledgement such as this through the paper only encourages the bastard to kill." Y/N tossed the paper down on her bed, now in an even worse mood. "Well? We must act quickly, so what say you to a trip down to the Parlor?"
"I shall have to rearrange your lunch with your fiancé, but aside from that your day is entirely free of pressing appointments," Sebastian told his master as he plucked the paper from off of her bed and placed it back onto the tea cart. After he set down the paper, Sebastian picked up a black eyepatch. With feather-light touches, the demon carded his fingers through Y/N's hair/hijab and gently set the eyepatch into place over her purple eye. As he tied the strings tightly around the back of her head, Sebastian could see the light of the contract seal and markings shining under the black patch.
"Are you done?" Y/N asked as she cut her eyes at her butler. She knew that look. Whether or not he did it on purpose or even knowingly, every morning when he tied her eyepatch over her purple, glowing eye, Sebastian looked down at his Master as if she was the most delicious feast he had ever seen. It never failed to make the hairs on the base of her neck stand, and the way his ruby red eyes would glow sent a shiver down Y/N's spine. "Fetch Mey-Rin to help me dress. Then go and call the Midford manor. If he's not busy, get Edward on the phone. He always takes cancellations better if they come from me."
"Of course, my Lady," Sebastian said as he bowed, placing one hand over his 'heart'. "Will that be all?"
"For now, yes," Y/N nodded as she began to pick at the palm of her hand. "Oh, and leave that paper. While I doubt it will have any truthful information to offer, without the latest file from Scotland Yard it will have to do. Leave it on my vanity."
