CHAPTER 22: KISS
Aziel's POV
Ten years ago...
I was in the hospital taking care of Scarlet. She was confined after several test proving that she's sick. I'm worried since she's pregnant and her due is coming. I stared at her face peacefully sleeping on the hospital bed. I know she's already tired. Tired at everything in her life. She never felt free.
I blinked two times when she opened her eyes and landed it on me. She smiled lightly. I help her sat down carefully. I smiled at her as I sat down on the chair beside her bed.
“How's everything?” she asked.
“Everything is fine, don't worry.” I said calmly so she could stay at ease. She smiled sadly.
“I'm sorry for being pain in the ass.” she said and chuckled. She stopped when she realized I'm not laughing at her joke. I looked at her seriously.
“You'll gonna be okay. I promised you to set you free. Just wait. No one can hurt you anymore.” she looked at me with languidness. She shook her head.
“You can't always protect me, Kuya. Besides I'm ready for this. Kung ano man ang kahihinatnan ko, I'll gladly accept it. But please, make sure, these people on my belly,” she pointed her big womb where our twins are sleeping, waiting to come out. They're gonna come out soon. “...are safe. Always safe. I don't want them to experience the rigors of my life.” I stared at her miserably. I sighed and looked away.
We didn't talked after that. The nurse came to check on her. She brought foods to Scarlet. Scarlet ate her lunch peacefully. I helped her to lay back on her bed carefully. I smiled at her when she closed her eyes to sleep. Minutes past when she finally asleep. I stood up and go outside to buy some foods. I brought my phone and my book together with me.
I'll admit, I'm tired too. My life was messy. Her life was messy. I have to grew up mentally immediately since our life was already part of the danger. Assassins are everywhere, finding the right time to kill either me or my wife. Either my father or her father. Scarlet has a responsibility in South Korea but no one knows she's sick.
Scarlet was actually my childhood friend and we are very close to each other. I'm two year older than her. We became close after knowing the kind of life we're living. We are both in the situation where we have no choice but to follow what told us to do. I thought by marrying can free her to everything but it didn't. It worsen the situation and the will of enemy to kill us. She's like a younger sister to me that's why I agreed to marry her. We have to do it in order to have a baby since her grandfather are now pressuring her.
I stopped at the small park outside the hospital. I roamed my eyes and saw some patients wandering around. I saw a tree near me. I walked bound to it and sat down. I opened my book to read. Reading encyclopedia is one of my stress relieving habit.
I felt the breeze while reading. I smile slightly as I close my eyes to feel the breeze. This is so refreshing. I want to stay here forever. I coldness the breeze brought is so relaxing. I opened my eyes and landed it on a woman sitting far me. She's wearing a hospital gown with a dextrose stand beside her. She's busy brushing her brush on a canvas on her lap. I frowned when she looked up straight to me and stared at me intently. After a few seconds, she looked down again at the canvas and started brushing.
I smirked when I realized what she's doing. She's painting me. Maybe I'm a good object for her to paint. She has a very good taste huh. I wonder how the painting looks after. I shook my head and turn back my gaze at my book to read again.
