Ch. 49

The night was lovely tonight. The stars are twinkling and the moon was full. The garden outside the ball was splendid under the moonlight. Knuckles was in the gazebo, waiting for Sonic. Though she was feeling uneasy cause last time Knuckles waited Sonic never showed up. What makes her think it's any different? She sat down on a bench under the gazebo and looked at the stars while holding the present she was gonna give Sonic. She had a flashback about the time after 'the biggest fan' incident. There was a time or maybe 5 Knuckles checked on Sonic to see he was alright.

After a laugh on how Sonic reacted to Beth The Shrew. Knuckles stopped and found Sonic on a bench. Knuckles actually wanted to make sure he's okay. He then sat down and asked, "Are you alright?" Sonic replied, "Yeah I'm fine." Knuckles asked in a concern but serious tone as he looked at him, "He didn't touch you did he?" Sonic replied, "No. I also learned Mark is a real lunatic and not to mention he's obsessed with me. Ugh!" Knuckles placed a hand on his shoulder and said, "Well if he does it again. I'll make sure he never takes you again. By breaking his arm." Sonic looked a bit towards Knuckles with a little smile. Thats when both saw Mark being pulled by the ear by his mother 'who was not too pleased about she hearing about him kidnapping people especially his 'idol'. Marks mom said as she walked while dragging Mark The Taper by the ear, "I can't believe you kidnapped one of the village heroes. I am furious at you young man. You pestered one of the village heroes and then held him captive in your cabin! Ooooohh you make me so mad!" Mark said in a panic, "But Mom I'm sorry! I'm sorry!" Both looked as they were on their way to the therapists office. Both shared a good laugh.

Knuckles looked down on the marble floor of the gazebo before hearing footsteps and hearing a familiar voice said, "Well glad you decided to wait." She sees Sonic in front of her with a calm expression. Knuckles nodded and said, "Yes I~" Once again she trailed off. The cobalt hedgehog sat down beside her and said casually, "Didn't think I keep a lady in waiting did you?" Knuckles chuckled a little and shook her head slowly. Knuckles replied, "N-not exactly. Wh-what you wanna talk about?" Sonic had his present for Knuckles besides him as Knuckles herself had her present for Sonic beside her. The two had a silent moment with each other while the roses are glowing white under the moonlight. Sonic then said while looking away from her, "Ya know? These last few weeks..." Sonic trailed off as he looked at her with a blush without turning his head and then said, "...It made me realized you changed and I don't just mean your appearance." Knuckles shrugged and said, "Not like I asked to be a weak female. I was force to." Sonic replied, "I'm aware that you were force to. But I am a little surprised. Unlike me, you never gave up on me." Knuckles sighs and said as she grabbed his hand, "An entire month I have been missing you so bad. Even though I didn't know you left." The cobalt hedgehog smiled a little without Knuckles noticing it. The red echidna then said, "I felt so horrible for every bad thing I did to you. I wish I could go back and undo my mistakes I have done. But I can't..." Sonic stood up and said, "Quit feeling guilty Knuckles." Sonic then looked at her and said, "It's all in the past now. Just focus on what's ahead of us okay?" Knuckles blushed and thought simply, "Us?" The blue hedgehog then asked, "Care to dance with me?" The female red echidna was surprised before she asked, "Me?" Sonic replied, "Are there any other girls I was asking here?" Knuckles shook her head with a blush and said, "No." Sonic asked again, "Well then. May I have this dance?" Knuckles replied with a small smile and said as she took his hand, "Yes my prince. Yes." Thats when Knuckles stood up, Sonic held her close, and the two danced through the night under the gazebo. Sonic didn't admit it to himself but he was falling in love with Knuckles all over again.
