THE SUN HAD BARELY risen above the sky when Liliya May was out of the house and skating.

The cold morning air nipped at her exposed arms as she skated down the road, she hadn't a clue why she had woken up that early - or why she was currently skating down the dark town of Devin.

But for some reason, her going out at that moment felt as if she had to do it. Something inside of her was pulling at her to get up and skate, she bit her lip as she continued skating, she wish she had brought a jacket.

But at the same time, it was peaceful. Liliya loved how quiet the town was in the morning, and sometimes when it got like this, she wouldn't mind staying there.

Although she knew it would get boring very quickly, she still adored the thoughts of a ghost town, or a deserted one where only she lived.

She was too busy in a world of her own when she heard a loud bark from behind her, before she could react a dog had tackled her to the ground. She fell on her back and groaned, feeling the wind being knocked out of her.

She pushed the dog off of her, it was a shaggy beige, she could've sworn she's seen it before. She sighed and sat on the road, dusting her hands against her shirt.

She heard the protests of a boy coming up the hill, Liliya wanted to be mad at the dog, but she couldn't. She knew he was only playing.

So instead, Liliya decided she was going to be mad at the owner instead of the innocent dog. The owner threw his bike to the ground and rushed over, a small smile appeared on his face when he realised who it was.

And Liliya's plan of being mad at the owner was thrown completely out the window, "Liliya!"

"Billy."

"I'm so so so sorry about Skipper, he gets a bit excited around people, especially when he knows it's early." Liliya gave the boy a tight lipped smile as he reached his hand out for the girl to take.

She sighed and shook her head gently before gripping his hand and pulling herself up, she got back her balance with her skates and sighed, the sun slowly peaking through the houses.

"To make it up to you, do you want to come do my rounds with me?" The sandy haired boy asked, a smile on his face.

Liliya thought for a moment, she had nothing better to do so she might as well. She sighed and nodded, he gave her a wide grin before grabbing his bike and hopping on it.

He began peddling and Liliya skated behind him, she was picking at her nails, occasionally looking up towards the boy next to her. "Can I throw one?" She asked, eyeing the basket full of newspapers.

He looked bewildered for a moment before a big smile crossed his face, "of course!" He spoke cheerfully, handing her one.

She hadn't a clue as to why the boy had so much energy in the morning, but she didn't question it, instead she threw the newspaper to the next house as far as she could, it landed on the front steps.

"Your pretty good," he complimented, making the red head fiddle with the ends of her hair. "Thanks." She mumbled, earning a smile from the boy.

Liliya was terrible at taking compliments, even if she hated that persons guts, if they gave her a compliment she'd get all flustered and wouldn't know how to respond.

Liliya sighed as the two (three if you include Skipper) finally got to the last house, Billy turned on his bike while Liliya spun on her wheels. "Alright! That's it, I'll walk you to your house if you'd like?" The boy offered with a soft smile.

Liliya just shook her head, she mumbled a quick goodbye before skating off. Skipper was about to go after her but was stopped by Billy who whistled to the dog to follow him.

Skipper sent one last look towards the girl skating before running after Billy who had gone a different way.

WHEN LILIYA finally got home, she pulled off her skates and rushed upstairs, fatigue instantly washing over her body as she dropped into her bed.

At this point she couldn't be bothered to change back into her pyjama's, she had to wake up for school in thirty minutes so closing her eyes for a while wouldn't hurt anybody.

-

WHEN LILIYA AWOKE again, she checked the clock, 1:47. Liliya was about to sigh and go back to sleep before realising the clock didn't say AM, but PM.

The girl froze before jolting up, she didn't bother changing clothes as she was already wearing her normal clothes, she rushed downstairs and slipping on her roller skates and stuffed her normal shoes into her bag.

She took a glance towards her mother who was asleep on the sofa, Liliya sighed and skated out of her house, closing the door behind her. The red head skated to school and when she got there she sat by her locker, taking off her skates and changing them for her normal shoes.

She scrambled to stand up and stuffed the skates in her locker along with her bag, she didn't bother getting out a pencil and paper as she was already too late to think of those sort of things.

She slammed the locker door closed before slipping into her maths class, the teacher sent her a look but didn't say anything - he was use to Liliya sometimes being late by now.

She slid into her seat next to Billy, he sent her a small smile, which she returned. She mentally cursed when she realised she didn't have any pencil or paper to take notes, she sighed and leaned her head in her arms.

She'll ask Bruce about the notes later.

The girl was on the verge of falling asleep before receiving a note, she lazily opened her eyes and looked to what it said,

'Why were you up and skating so early?'

Liliya didn't have a pencil, so she quickly took the one Billy was holding, he sat shocked for a moment before turning to look at her, she was scribbling something on the paper.

When she was done she slid the paper back, along with the pencil. Liliya went back to laying her head in her hands.

The bit she wrote read; 'I had a feeling I should go out skating, and I couldn't sleep.'

She heard a small chuckle come from Billy, she didn't say anything more, nor did he send her another note and instead the two got on with what they were doing, Billy was writing down notes for the upcoming test, while Liliya was asleep in her arms.
