THE BREEZE WAS HUMID as the redhead walked over to her locker, the small chatter of the crowd passed her by as nothing more than an old melody.
Liliya had stopped listening to the vacant chatter of the other students in the hall after a few years and instead focused on her own thoughts. She quickly put the code into her locker and tucked her notebooks inside, she was still pissed about the small incident earlier.
She knew it was a petty thing to be mad at, in all honestly she wouldn't normally care for those boys.
But Billy was with them.
That's was made her annoyed, the fact someone like Billy, hung around those boys.
The boys that took pleasure in making everyone's day miserable.
She yanked her roller-skates out of her locker and sat down to put them on, it took her a bit as she kept on doing the knot on her skates wrong from how irritated she was.
Eventually, she finished and stuffed her shoes into her bag, a shadow in front of her sitting form pulled her out of her thoughts.
Billy Showalter.
He gave her a small smile and closed her locker above her, the boy stuck out his hand for her to take, which she hesitantly took.
He pulled her up onto her feet and she slung her bag over her shoulders, "thanks." She muttered, embarrassed about letting someone she was mad at help her.
She watched as he went to say something, but skated off before she could hear it.
After a minute or so of skating she heard running from behind her, she spun on her heels and placed a hand on her hip.
Once again, the sandy blonde boy was trying to get her attention, she raised an eyebrow and stopped skating, watching as the boy smiled and waved enthusiastically at her.
"Hi!" He spoke, hunching over and slightly out of breath from the running. Liliya was a fast skater.
"I just wanted to say..."
"That you're sorry?" She said, raising her eyebrows in disinterest.
"Yes! But also sorry about my friends." Liliya clicked her teeth at the words friends.
"Assholes more like."
"They have their good moments," he tried reasoning, only to earn an agitated scoff and the redhead skating away.
He groaned and ran after her, "Look I'm sorry!"
"It's whatever I don't care!" The girl shrugged, skating faster to the arcade. Billy gave himself a wary smile as he ran after her, she pushed through the doors and went to her favourite game.
"Why are you following me?"
"I wanted to hang out!"
"Hang out somewhere else," the girl spoke bluntly.
"Why? You said it's 'whatever'." The boy spoke, leaning his shoulder against the machine. Liliya kissed her teeth and rolled her eyes, slotting a quarter into the game.
"Yeah I did, but it's just sad if you go to an arcade on your own."
"But you do that?" The boy spoke the half-question with his eyebrows raised.
"Yeah, but I'm allowed to do that because it's me."
"That makes no sense," Billy spoke, rolling his eyes playfully at the girl whose eyes were fixed on the game.
"Can I try?" Billy asked, watching as the death screen popped up on the game. Liliya sighed and pulled out a quarter, she placed it on the ledge and skated back slightly so he had space.
He grinned and quickly switched positions with Liliya, instantly slotting in the coin and pressing start.
Liliya watched as his character jumps up and down, Billy had no idea what was going on but seeing Liliya's interested face watch the boy made him want to continue playing.
He kept on glancing at the redhead with a small smile, her eyes were illuminated by the coloured game as she watched him play with interest, he's never seen her so focused.
"You're really pretty," he breathed out. He watched as Liliya's shoulders tensed and frowned, he glanced back up to her face and watched as a dark crimson clouded her cheeks.
"Thank... you?" She mumbled before skating off to another game to avoid the paperboy's sickly sweet words.

"YOU'RE PRETTY," those words echoed in her brain all throughout the rest of the night, when she was walking home, when she got in the shower, when she ate dinner, or even when she laid down to finally go to sleep.
Those two words sent goosebumps up her spine and a tingling feeling in her stomach.
She sighed as she turned over to the other side, her head was foggy with sleep and her eyes slid closed desperately trying to fall into a slumber, but her mind wasn't tired.
In fact, it was the most awake it's been in a while, those words swam through every thought and thousands of different scenarios of what could've happened next pulled at her mind.
Forcing her to stay awake, even if her body was exhausted.
Liliya sprung up in her bed, a scowl on her face as she ran a hand over it, "stupid."
