THE FLOWERS OPENED to the sun's rays of light, the small wisps of wind sliding through the people as a comfortable temperature settled over the town.

Billy slid off of his bike as he quickly tied it to the bike rack along with the others, the front of the school was practically deserted as he swung the front doors open and rushed to his maths class.

It was already 9:28 AM, he had slept in without realising and his parents hadn't been bothered to wake him up as they themselves were running late to work.

He quickly pushed the handle to his maths door down and speed-walked over to his seat. The familiar redhead he had become so fond of looked up from her notebook and gave him a peculiar look, Billy sent a sheepish smile and opened the front of his new textbook with a harsh 'slam.'

The boy's head snapped towards the teacher who only sighed and carried on with his marking, he bit his lip and pulled a pencil out from his pocket.

He glanced toward the teacher before moving closer to Liliya, "what are we doing?" He whispered, quite quietly.

Liliya grinned at the boy and shrugged, "I don't actually know, I've been sitting here staring at my notebook with a pencil in hand hoping he'd think I was doing work."

Billy grinned towards the girl as the teacher only sighed and walked over to the two, he bent down and began explaining the work to them in a very hushed whisper.

Once he had finished he stood back up and whispered once more, "don't forget I can hear you two."

Liliya smirked as he sat down and gave him a sailor salute, to which he rolled his eyes at.

Billy glanced between the teacher and Liliya, he slowly ripped a corner of one of the pages, and the teacher sent him a pointed look, making Billy throw it in the bin.

When Billy sat back down from the bin Liliya slipped him a note, he raised his eyebrows in shock and turn to her. She rolled her eyes and cocked her head to the side so he'd open it, inside read: 'hi.'

Billy stared at it for a moment before a grin overtook his face, "I'll treasure it forever." He whispered to the redhead, only to get a playful nudge in response.

"It's for you to write what we're was going to," she whispered back, Billy made an 'o' with his mouth before scribbling something down.

Liliya watched in amusement as he flipped his pencil the other way to irritatedly rub something out, he quickly wrote over the smudging and slid it back to Liliya. She slowly unfolded it and leaned back in her chair to read it.

'Want to go to the next town over? We can get the bus.'

Liliya raised an eyebrow, "today?" she mouthed, Billy grinned and nodded quickly.

"After maths," he mouthed back, a small smirk formed on the girl's lips as she shrugged and stuffed the note into her back along with the other notes he's given her.

-

THE BELL ECHOED throughout the corridors, Billy and Liliya turned to one another and rushed out of the maths classroom and into the already flooding corridors.

Liliya held onto Billy's wrist as she shoved past all the students that filled the corridors, she heard a few grunts of annoyance but nobody said anything distasteful.

She slipped out the front doors of the school with Billy next to her, the two gave each other a look and raced down to the bus stop.

-

LILIYA DIDN'T KNOW how long she and Billy had waited for a bus, but when the familiar red vehicle came into eyesight, Liliya was more than relieved.

The two slipped onto the bus, each giving the driver a small coin. The bus driver tipped his hat towards the teens and started the bus, Liliya and Billy stumbled through the empty bus and decided on a seat close-ish to the back doors.

After a moment of silence, the two turned to one another and sighed, Liliya crossed her legs in her seat and placed her bag over her lap.

"Why did you want to come to town?" The redhead asked one of her eyebrows raised. Billy thought for a moment before shrugging, "I'm not sure."

The girl shook her head playfully, a small smile escaping her lips.

-

THE TWO SAT IN AN ICE CREAM parlour, they each had one in front of them. There was a silence between them that Liliya didn't want to particularly break, but Billy had other plans.

The sandy-blonde sighed and glanced towards the girl, "you know Bruce?" He asked, eyebrows raised. It was a question that had been pulling at his mind slightly after seeing the two talking and laughing in Science.

"Yeah we're friends, we've been friends for years," Liliya said, resting her chin on her hands, a small smile on her face.

Billy took a spoonful of his ice cream before continuing, "when did you two meet?"

"I don't actually remember, it was a long time ago but we've been close ever since."

"Are the two of you dating?" Billy asked, he felt embarrassed asking that question and felt as though he was invading her privacy but he couldn't help it, he was curious.

Liliya shot up, her eyes slightly wide. She stayed silent for a moment before bursting into laughter, laughter that Billy found strange.

"Me? And Bruce?"

"Yeah?" Liliya burst into even harder laughter at the sandy-blondes cluelessness.

"He's like a brother to me," The redhead finally said, wiping away the tears that had formed in her eyes.

"Oh."

-

LILIYA LEANED AGAINST HER WALL the white phone pressed against her ear as she waited for the ringing to stop.

After a minute or so the line went dead and a voice picked up, making the redhead unconsciously stand taller.

"Hi?" The familiar voice spoke."

"Hey, it's me."

"Hey!"

"Wanna have a sleepover?" Liliya asked, biting her lip to contain a smile.

"I'll be over in a minute!" The boy said, Liliya heard the phone die and placed it back on the hook, waiting for the boy to come to her house.

He was true to her word as in the next five minutes a knock was heard at the front door, Liliya smiled widely as she quickly threw the door open, earning a grin from the boy on the other side.

"Hey, Lils." The black-haired boy said, leaning against the doorframe, "Bruce!"

The two walked into the house, Bruce closing the door behind him. A small silence fell over the two as they went over to Liliya's bedroom.

Bruce hasn't even sat on the floor before he asked, "are you and Billy dating?"
