THE SUN beat down on the town of Devin, the occasional wisp of wind flew through the cracks and corners, the small sounds of bees buzzing around the sky, making swirls and hearts with their trail.

The flowers bloomed around everyone, the blues, pinks, yellows and reds practically mesmerising the onlookers. The butterflies ready to collect the pollen soared around the small children trying to catch them with their hands and nets.

Rays of sunlight illuminated from behind the buildings, casting shadows onto the pavements. Liliya had a picnic basket tucked underneath her arm as she walked down the somewhat quiet street. She saw a few people on the way who gave her a curt nod or awkward smile when they made eye contact, but other than that, that was it.

The same cycle everyday. Liliya would walk down the street, a few people would nod their head or smile at her and then completely forget about her the second she walked passed them, as though she was only a wisp of wind or a ghost of the past.

At one point in her life it got on her nerves, it made her upset knowing that she wasn't memorisable, but after a while she grew attached to the feeling of being alone and unknown.

And that's how she liked it.

Her trainers made almost no noise as she calmly walked down to the empty street where her and Bruce had agreed to meet.

While Bruce was in charge of getting the drinks and blankets for the picnic, Liliya was in charge of the food and the plates.

Liliya looked around at the familiar street, she saw a shadow of a figure in the darkness, he was holding a plastic bag. Liliya squinted her eyes and began walking over, the boy must've heard her walking closer because he snapped his head towards her, a grin on his face.

"Liliya!" Bruce exclaimed. Liliya gave the boy a big smile as the two linked arms. "Bruce!"

Bruce and Liliya. The two names people use to call out and ask if they were dating, friends who were assumed to be more by parents, friends who are just friends.

Friends who are like brother and sister.

The two slowly walked down the street to get to their special spot in the deserted forest, wanting to bask in the rare moments they got with one another.

When the two finally got to 'their spot' (as they like to call it) Bruce placed the blanket onto the floor while Liliya set up the small picnic the two had brought along with them.

Bruce flattened the corners of the blanket and sat down, Liliya following after, she bit the inside of her cheek hard as she tried opening the bottle of juice Bruce had brought, she placed all her strength into the lid but it didn't budge.

She sighed and reluctantly handed the bottle over to Bruce who just grinned at the girl, to Liliya it looked as though he put in minimal strength to open it, but in reality Bruce was struggling.
