THE SUN BEAMED onto the streets of Denver as Billy sat against the pavement, he stretched his legs out onto the road, a slight hum escaping from his lips.

He glanced towards the roller skates on the pavement, he pulled off his trainers and put on the new skates.

He didn't want to admit it, but it took quite a while for him to put on the roller skates as his foot kept slipping. He ran his hand over his face and messed up his hair slightly as he angrily tied the laces.

He huffed and puffed as he continuously tried standing up, only to slip back onto the pavement. He frustratedly ran a hand through his hair as he pushed himself up once again, only to fall backwards.

A loud groan escaped his lips as he caught his breath back, a small shadow fell over the sandy-haired boy, and he sheepishly turned his head up to lock eyes with Liliya.

"Hi," he spoke, breaking eye contact and glancing towards the floor. The redhead raised an eyebrow towards him, a small grin on her face, "are you trying to skate?" She asked, placing a hand on her hip, a teasing glint in her eyes as he sighed and extended his arms into a shrug, "I tried," he mumbled, getting ready to take the skates off, only to be stopped by Liliya.

She extended an arm for him to take, which he did, and pulled him up with a smirk. She watched in amusement as he grabbed tightly onto her arms so he wouldn't fall, she raised an eyebrow again and gently took his two hands.

He glanced up at her and locked eyes with the redhead, his lips parted, a small blush coating his cheeks as she pulled him onto the road, whispering gently to him, "bend your legs."

He complied instantly and bent his legs slightly, she nodded and watched in concentration, their hands still interlocked.

"Try to keep your feet together," she spoke watching as he tried pulling in his feet. She gave a small nod and began walking backwards, letting him skate in a line with her, "the key to skating is confidence."

Billy raised an eyebrow at the redhead, "the more confident you are in your balance, the easier it gets."

"Really?"

"Trust me," she gave a smile and accidentally pulled him a bit too far, sending him tumbling. Her eyes widened as she watched the blonde fall on his back, "ow!" The boy groaned, Liliya's hand flew to her mouth as she watched him slowly sit up.

She bit her lip hard, her shoulders shaking slightly. All it took was an exasperated look from Billy to send her into a laughing fit. She hunched over, boisterous laughter spilled from her lips as Billy rolled his eyes.

After a few moments of laughing, she finally extended her arms to him once again.

This repeated until sundown.

THREE DAYS LATER, Billy was finally getting the hang of it, he could skate in a straight line on his own, he just couldn't turn.

Today Liliya had decided to wear her roller skaters so she could teach him how to turn properly.

The redhead bent her knees and held her elbows in, Billy was sitting on the pavement watching her. "Turning is simple, whichever way you turn your body, that's the way you'll go," She spoke calmly.

She kicked off slightly, skating in a straight line before getting to the end of the road and turned her upper body to the other direction, rotating her feet in the process.

She spun back quickly and smoothly, watching as Billy furrowed his eyes in confusion. "You need to turn your upper body to turn your feet," Liliya said, extending her hands out for Billy to take, which he did.

For the next hour or so, Liliya taught Billy how to turn correctly and clapped each time he did it well.

THE TWO SLOWLY skated into the skating rink hand in hand, Billy was slightly nervous to skate especially considering the number of people, so Liliya offered her hand to the boy.

The topic of conversation between the two, somehow got onto schoolwork and upcoming tests, "we have a science test on Tuesday," Billy reminded her.

She sighed and shook her head, "I normally copy off of Bruce I'll be okay," Billy sent her a grin as the two turned in sync.

"And there's maths homework."

Liliya snapped her head around, "excuse me?"

"Yeah, it's due on Monday," Billy spoke, chuckling slightly. Liliya sighed and ran a hand through her hair, "you could always skip."

"And run away from maths?" The girl joked earning a playful head shake from the boy.

"Yeah, I do it when I know I'm missing homework."

"If I could run away from it all, trust me, I would have done that a while ago."

A sigh escaped her lips, and Billy couldn't help but think there was a deeper meaning to what she had said.
