Grace's POV

I yawned. Hugely. Like a huge cave opening.

I don't know why I was tired. I slept early this morning. Right after I got off work at 8AM, I immediately went home, ate a little breakfast, and slept at around 10AM. I woke up at around 7PM. I counted off my hours of sleep- around 9 hours. It was sufficient.

So, why was I still yawning at 10PM? Why was I feeling so tired?

I settled at my work station, my lids already half-closing.

I would need a lot of coffee to stay awake for this shift.

"Hey," Paige nudged me softly.

I opened my eyes. "Yeah?" I asked.

"Can we talk later? I have something important to talk to you about," she said.

My brows knit together. Paige seemed nervous about something. She was wringing her hands, which was weird.

"Okay," I replied. "During lunch?"

Paige shook her head. "No. Let's talk after work. It's best to talk after work."

My eyebrows knitted some more. Why after work? We always talked during lunch.

"Please?" Paige pleaded. "Let's talk after work, please?" She looked like she was going to cry.

"Okay," I conceded. I didn't want Paige to cry. I didn't want anyone else crying within the immediate vicinity. I cry easily and I might cry with them.

I then put on my headphones and got ready for work, taking deep breaths as I got ready to answer calls.

When lunch rolled around, Paige and I walked towards our cafeteria. I was anticipating the food that they were going to serve. I heard that it was beef spring rolls and chicken cordon bleu. Yum.

"Hooray for chicken cordon bleu," I cheered softly as I reached for a banana.

Paige just grunted. So much for the enthusiasm.

Paige and I set our plates on an empty table and started eating. I was famished!

"Hi, guys!"

I looked up. It was Clark.

With Josh, of course.

"Hi," I replied. It was not weird to dine with Josh and Clark anymore. Whenever our break times would match, both of them would always eat with us. I'm not sure why though since both of them seems to have other friends.

"Mag hi ka naman sa asawa mo," Clark chided Josh when he didn't say anything.

Paige choked on a piece of chicken.

"Oh my gosh. Are you okay?" I asked her, frantic. She was having a coughing fit.

I handed her water. She choked out her thanks and chugged the water down like there's no tomorrow.

"Slowly," I told her. She might choke again.

"I was startled," Paige explained. She took a deep breath. She looked green to me.

"Gusto mo pa ng tubig? I can get it for you," Josh offered. His face showed concern for my friend.

"No, it's okay," Paige declined. "I'm fne now."

"Are you sure?"

"Yes."

I gazed at her doubtfully. My gut feeling say she's not okay. That much I can tell. But, of course, I don't say it out loud. I would have to weasel that information- whatever's bothering her later.
