Chapter Nine: Savitar
Central City, 2049, Abandoned Clock Tower
Savitar's head felt so loud, so full of emotion (at least compared to what he normally felt). Why had this suddenly happened? Why only now was he feeling something besides hatred?
He knew the answer to his own question, and he knew that he was a fool to think that it was true for even a moment. It had been his new memories. Since he arrived in the future, he had begun to get brief flashes of new memory here and there, because of his memory link with The Flash, and he was a bit behind on his most recent outings. At first, they hadn't been an issue, he thought that he could just throw them aside like he had with all the other memories. Besides, he wasn't the 'real' Flash, he was just a nobody, a monster. However, these memories were different from the ones that he had seen before.
Because in these, Iris lived.
He/Barry got to spend so much more time with her, as her husband, then in his timeline. She never died by his hand. He could almost still feel the gentle and loving touch of her hand on his face, back when he wasn't a time copy.
He/Barry had a daughter, Nora. And even though he had never personally met her before their fight, he had all of Barry's memories, feelings, thoughts, love, towards her. And the stupidest thing of all, was he had felt a small amount of sorrow and remorse for what he had done to her.
" Don't get emotional," he told himself, " It's not you she cares about. It's not you that Joe, or Cisco, or Catlin care about."
" It's not you that Iris cares about."
"All that Nora will do if you did come back is throw you away like garbage. Like the rest of them did."
All of these feelings had cost him greatly during battle, and caused him to ruin the mission by not participating earlier, or at his fullest. He would not make that mistake again. He would not feel again. He had to learn that he was not the same person as Barry, as Barry himself had told him. Those memories were Barry's, not his, and he needed to act like it.
Thawne's fist slamming down on his workstation brought Savitar back to reality. He had returned to the villain's agreed upon base of operations, Thawne's old lab in the abandoned clock tower in 2049, so Team Flash couldn't track them. When they had returned with mixed results, Thawne became livid.
" This, this is why you follow the plan, Zolomon!!" Thawne roared.
" We could've had everything that we needed, with one, one simple attack, but you had to get cocky and go off the rails, ruining everything! Now they're onto us, and it's going to be a thousand times harder to get back in!!!"
Thawne turned around, slamming his hands back down on his workstation, coughing a few times.
" Not THE plan Thawne, your plan. And are you upset that I didn't do what you told me to, or that I hurt your prized student?" Zoom said, egging Thawne on.
" You were not supposed to hurt her!" he yelled.
" I gave you the location of where she was so you could use her as bait, as a distraction, not so you could kill her!"
" Oh, so you've gone soft?" Zoom laughed.
" I don't care about what happens to Nora West-Allen, Zolomon! She is a tool, one which I have much bigger plans for.
I, however, seem to be the only one who can think more than one step ahead! What did you think would happen, when you killed her? Hm? That you would anger Allen? Get him enraged? Yeah, that's exactly what happened, and now, you've painted an even bigger target on our backs!"Thawne stumbled backwards slightly, sputtering and coughing repeatedly.
" I do enjoy seeing him like this." thought Savitar, watching Thawne struggle.
After letting him recover, Zoom, getting right in Thawne's face, hissed, " You may be afraid of the big, bad Flash, but I most certainly am not."
" Why does any of this even matter?" Heart ignorantly interrupted.
" If we have almost all the parts we need, then all we have to do is find a way to get the last one." he said, gesturing to the pile of tech that he had stolen from Star Labs.
Savitar glared down at Heart, who was standing next to him. He hated that he was here. He was nothing more than a lackey, and he couldn't wait to get rid of him as soon as he had outlived his usefulness.
" Heart, has a point." Thawne conceded.
" With what he did get, we're only missing the power source, and I'm already thinking of a plan to get it."
Zoom, still very close to Thawne, said, " Why should we follow your plan? Who said that you were the boss?"
Savitar could tell that Zoom wanted to kill Thawne right where he stood, and he sure couldn't blame him. To be fair, Savitar would've killed them both had he not needed their help.
" Because, Zolomon," Thawne spat, standing taller so where the two villains' faces were inches from each other.
" I may not be as powerful as I used to be, but I am no less deadly."
Thawne pulled back his sleeve and revealed a wrist band of some kind, which he pressed a button on.
" AAARRRGGHH!!!" screamed Zoom, as he fell onto his knees, holding his hands on his head.
" Do you like it Zolomon? A modified version of Grood's mind device. Capable of putting extreme pressure on any human's mind equal to a gorilla pushing your skull in. And it does so to anyone within my set radius."
Thawne evily smiled. " Well, except me of course."
He pressed another button, and Zoom stopped screaming as the device turned off.
" Also," he said, now addressing the room, " You all know that I have nothing to gain by sabotaging any of you. You'll all get what you want, and we'll get to see everyone around Barry Allen burn, before he burns along with them."
He leaned over Zoom and finished by saying, " And Zomolin, you will follow my plan, or I'll have no more use for you. And, trust me, you won't want that."
And with that, Thawne walked out of the room, taking Heart and the stolen tech with him.
Savitar watched as Zoom slowly stood up, still holding the left side of his head, until Zoom noticed that he was still standing there.
" And what was wrong with you tonight?!" Zoom growled, venting his frustration.
" I got... distracted." Savitar answered in a far off voice.
" Good, because I don't want to hear that you've had a change of heart, Barry."
Anger shot through Savitar's veins, quickly boiling up to the surface.
" I AM NOT BARRY ALLEN!!! I was distracted tonight, but rest assured, it won't happen again!" he boomed.
Savitar angrily turned and sped out of the room, making an important decision as he did so.
He had to prove to himself that what he told Zolomon was true. That he wasn't like Barry. That he hadn't changed. In order to do that though, he had to take away what Barry held most dear. His family.
That night, Savitar vowed to kill Iris and Nora West-Allen.
