Prologue:

Central City, Star Labs, 2019

10:06 pm

Barry's mind raced as he ran through the time portal on a destination course for present day, brillant blue energy flying past him as he ran. He hadn't liked what he'd just had to do to Nora, but what other choice did he have? She had broken his trust, and trust isn't something that was so easily repaired. Why did Thawne always have to try to ruin his life? First his mother, then pretending that he was his friend, and now this?

" At least he'll get what he deserves," he thought.

As Barry was traveling through the Speed Force, he was so distracted by his thoughts that he didn't see the tiny blue tear appear in its side, small sparks flying from it as it grew.

When Barry came back to present day Star Labs, he decided that he should tell everyone what he'd done, and that they wouldn't be seeing Nora again. Everyone had somewhat shocked reactions that before long disappeared.

" We trust you Barry," said Joe. "If this is what you think needs to be done, then we're all behind it too."

Well almost everyone agreed with Joe.

" Guys, I need a moment with Barry please." Iris said shakenly.

Cisco, Ralph, Catlin, Joe, Sherloque and Cecile all quietly left the Cortex, each of their disappointed faces passing by Barry for a brief moment, until it was only him and Iris left in the Cortex.

" So that's it then? We'll never get to see our daughter again, and you just went and decided that for us?" Iris said as tears swelled in her eyes.

" What else should I have done Iris?! She lied to every one of us, putting the team at risk! She was working with Thawne! Even after knowing what he did. How can we just look past that?"

Barry felt like each time he said the Reverse Flash's name, his hatred toward him grew even stronger.

" I was there when we learned all of that too Barry, and I'm not saying that any of it was right or that your anger is misplaced. However, you didn't even talk to me before deciding what to do. You sent her back without even talking to me! That means that now I won't get to see her for years! See her like we did for decades! The last time she'll have seen her father was in a rage over what she'd done! I won't have even gotten to say sorry for the things that I did in the future!"

Barry fell silent. He was heartbroken as well. Of course he hadn't wanted to send her away, but it was safest for everyone if he did.

I can't let anyone else get hurt by Thawne.

" Iris I..." Barry's words caught in his throat, as he tried to find words to comfort her.

" And the worst part is Barry, I didn't even get to say goodbye." Iris finished, a tear rolling down her cheek.

And with that, she turned on her heels and walked out of Cortex, leaving Barry alone.

Barry collapsed down onto one of the nearby chairs, his face getting wet as he let the tears fall from his eyes.

Why did Thawne always have to ruin everything good in his life?

Central City, Main Plaza, 2049

10:02 pm

Alone.

Nora looked around at the street corner where she stood, the place where her father had just left her.

" I'm sorry Nora, but I can't have anyone on the team that I can't trust."

" Dad please!"

" If you try to travel back in time, I will sense it."

" Dad, please! I promise that I won't lie again! I'll never see Thawne again!"

" Goodbye Nora."

Was that the last time that she would ever see her father?

Who can I go to now?

She could no longer travel to the past, and everyone in this time that she cared for she either didn't trust, or was gone. How had she messed up so badly?

I had a chance to see my father, to bond with him! But now it's all over.

" Have I lost my family?" echoed around inside her head as she raced back to her apartment.

She passed by buildings that she had grown up seeing, but after spending so much time in the past, now looked forgien. The nighttime lights of the futuristic city would've looked beautiful as they became streaks in her vision, had she been paying any attention to them. When she got there she raced inside, and saw the once again familiar but forgein sights of her house. This was her apartment, but it no longer felt like home. As she looked around at the walls that she had lived in for years at that point, they just felt wrong. The whole place felt wrong. It felt like she had just lost all of her family and her home, all at once.

I miss them so much. Dad, I'm so sorry.

All of the emotion finally became too much, as she sat on the edge of the bed, beginning to sob as tears rolled down her cheeks. The past day's tolls eventually overtook her, and she slowly began to fall asleep. And as she did, one word remained prominent in the sea of emotions and thoughts that were in her head.

I'm alone

Central City, Main Plaza, 2049

10:08 pm

In the Central City plaza that both the Flash and XS had just left, a small time rift opened for just a split second, blue energy whipping out of it as it crackled wildly. In that second, two blurs of blue light rushed out of it and onto the plaza, before the rift sealed shut.

Breathing heavily, one of them ripped of their mask.

" Where are we?" asked Hunter Zomolin as he looked around at the futuristic city.

There were buildings and technology all around them that seemed much different from what he was used to, the same city he had seen so many times still before him, seeming foreign to him now.

" It appears to be sometime in the future." said the other speedster beside him, Savitar.

" The last thing that I remember is being taken by the time wraiths," said Zoom, thoughtfully.

" And I was without my armor and had just been shot." added the evil clone of Barry looking at his now armorless hands. It felt weird to him to be without his promethean armor, it had become like a second skin to him at this point.

" There's only two people that mess with time enough to have caused this. Barry Allen, and Eobard Thawne." The tone in which Zolomon said both of these names was full of disdain, as he wasn't a big fan of either of them.

" I'd say that we pay them both a visit in this time, and say thank you. " Zoom evilly smiled as the words left his lips. Nodding, Savitar sped off to find a way to locate them. Within a few seconds, he had found a wrist communicator.

" It's some kind of advanced phone. One moment and I'll have it working."

After thirty seconds of super speeding it apart and then back together, Savitar pressed a series of buttons that pulled up a holoscreen. He entered the name BARRY ALLEN first.

The word "deceased" came up on screen.

" Let me try The Flash," Savitar said as he typed it in.

An article from Iris West-Allen appeared saying " The Flash goes missing after Red Storm." It was dated April 25, 2024.

" So Barry is dead!'' Zoom exclaimed. " This must be Thawne's doing then. Since I assume he's still around..."

Savitar typed Thawne's name onto the holoscreen.

"Imprisoned at Black Gates Penitentiary for numerous life sentences." the page read.

" Well now we have our target. Let's go see an old friend." Zoom said in his deep, demonic voice as he pulled his black mask back on, blue lightning sparking all around him.

Zoom and Savitar had returned.
