Chapter Nineteen: Barry West-Allen

Central City, 2019, Wayne Industries Supercomplex

Barry kept going over the last conversation that he'd had with Nora. Why hadn't he trusted her to help? Had he really been so busy that he'd forgotten her? He wished that that had been the case. The truth was, as much as he hated to admit it, he had been hesitant to let her help. Of course he trusted her, she was his daughter! They had already moved on from all of the past mistakes hadn't they? So what if she had tried to reach Thawne? She hadn't been successful, and he couldn't blame her for looking for someone that would be there for her, especially not after what he had done to her.

Barry sighed. And with that, he had found the problem. He hadn't moved on. She still trusted Thawne. He couldn't stand knowing that Nora was willing to work with him again if he were to ask for help. It wasn't that he didn't trust her to make good decisions, it was that Thawne was a master manipulator. He had manipulated him and his friends for a year straight, all the while pulling strings in the background to bring about their ends. He knew that Nora knew this as well, so the question that was really bothering him was why? Why was she so willing to help him? A sense of loyalty? Something he had promised her? Barry had no clue as to the answer to that question, and it really wasn't sitting well with him. What he did know though, was that it was a very dangerous game to work with Thawne, and Nora would end up hurting others and herself if she kept going on this path. The talk that he had had with Sherloque had really gotten into his head.

" You need to focus," Barry told himself as he and the rest of Team Flash arrived outside of the Wayne Industries Supercomplex.

" This place is massive!" breathed Ralph as the four of them took in the sight before them. Massive was an understatement. Even though it had turned to night outside, the building stood clear as day in front of them. It was ten stories tall, took up almost the entirety of what would've been a mall sized building lot, and looked more sleek and expensive than most of any other buildings in Central City.

Well, this is Wayne Industries that we're talking about.

The glass front doors had been shattered into millions of tiny pieces, so they were able to walk into the building without any problems. Inside, they saw scorched walls, light fixtures, reception desks, and security cameras, all burned and torched by lightning.

" Well, they definitely came through here." commented Cisco as he picked up one of the broken security cameras.

" Guys," Barry said into his comm, " Do you have any visuals on them?"

" All cameras within a three block radius have been fried," Iris replied. " We have no eyes or ears."

" And thermal's not being useful either." added Nora. " There's some sort of interference inside that's throwing our satiletie's sensors off. I can't get any kind of accurate reading."

" So we are willingly walking straight into what is clearly a trap then?" Frost remarked.

" It wouldn't be a typical day for us if we didn't." shrugged Cisco.

" Sorry that we can't be of any help." Iris apologized.

" Don't worry, we'll still have comms to talk to you guys, and both of you did everything you could." Barry said.

" Yeah, everything," Nora quietly remarked.

As Team Flash entered the main hallway that held three elevators, two flights of stairs, and numerous connecting hallways, they saw more scorch marks lining the walls.

They almost seem... deliberate?

" Guys, they're leading us," Barry said, pointing to the patterns of scorch marks on the walls. As they traced them, the burns went up to about halfway up the wall, before they branched out in three separate directions. Two led through the stairwell, and the other down the hall.
