Chapter Seventeen: Iris West-Allen

Central City, 2019, Glamorous Spa House

Later that day,

" Wow mom! That was a great idea! I've never seen my nails sparkle like they do right now!" Nora exclaimed, marveling at the nail jobs that both her and Iris had just gotten.

Iris smiled. It was so good to spend time with her daughter again. When Nora had been sent back to the future, she wasn't sure when the next time she would see her would be. Luckly, everything had worked itself out and the whole West-Allen family was back together and on good terms again.

" I told you that it's the best place in Central City," said Iris.

" Yeah, here or in the future," Nora remarked.

" It's just a good thing that my superhero costume has gloves, or I could blind myself with how good these look!" she laughed. " Or should I say our superhero costume."

Nora's speedster suit had been originally made for Iris last year, when Barry's speed force had been transferred to her for a short time. Nora had taken it from a dusty closet of relics from the past in the future, which she had donned as her own super suit. Iris' lightning had even been purple, just like Nora's, of which she had no doubt was where she got half of her lightning color from.

" It looks much better on you," Iris commented.

" Can't it look great on us both?" Nora affectionately smiled.

Iris loved how everything was back to the way it was before the 'Thawne Incident'. When everything was perfect.
While she wanted to continue spending time with Nora though, she knew that it was getting late and that they should be heading back.

" Alright," Iris sighed. " I think that it's time to go back to Star Labs."

" Oh! Before we go, I have a surprise for you." Nora said, rummaging around in her purse for something.

" Another one?" Iris laughed. " Haven't you done enough for one day?"

" I'm sorry mom, I'm just so excited to be back," Nora grunted, continuing to look for something.

" Ah ha! Here it is!" Nora triumphantly exclaimed as she held up the small box.

" A little thank you gift. Just don't open it until the next time that you're feeling down or upset." she said, handing it to Iris.

" Thank you gift?" Iris questioned, taking the box. " Thank you for what?"

" For never giving up on me," Nora said, half-smiling. " Even when everyone else had turned their backs on me after I lied to them, and rightfully so, you still believed in me, stood by my side, defended me. Thank you mom."

And then, Nora hugged her tightly, of which she returned.

Nora had no idea how much hearing that meant to Iris. She had been so worried when Nora had shown up, all angry and distant to her, that she wouldn't get to know her, just like how she never got to know her own mother. And while they had made a lot of progress since then, Iris still felt like she had to make up for all the mistakes that her older self had made. And hearing the tone and level of sincerity in Nora's voice as she told her how much she meant to her, warmed her heart.

The heartfelt moment was interrupted by a simultaneous buzz from both of their phones, which they both pulled out and looked at, to see an emergency message pushed to it.

The three speedsters had returned.
