Chapter Fifthteen: Nora West-Allen

Central City, 2019, The West-Allen Apartment

Nora couldn't believe how happy she was when she woke up on her parent's sofa bed the next morning.

I'm actually back in the same house as my dad!

She honestly hadn't been sure that she'd ever see him again after how things went down between them a week ago. She didn't ever want to feel that way again.

Nora planned to make today a great day, and she knew exactly how she wanted to start it off.

" I'm going to make a huge breakfast for everyone, and get everything ready for mom and dad so that as soon as they wake up, we can spend the whole day together from start to finish!" she quietly thought aloud.

Nora went right to work in the kitchen, and while she had to use a crutch to walk right now, she could still use her super speed in her hands to rapidly make breakfast. First eggs, pancakes, sausages, waffles, and omelets, then a fruit bowl with strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, and raspberries, and finally a large assortment of juices were laid across the table, with a single banana as the centerpiece. Nora looked over her results with some mixed emotions. She thought herself to be a much better cook than her mom, but was far from her dad's level of cooking expertise.

" I'm sure they'll appreciate the thought at least," Nora thought aloud once again.

" Oh!" she suddenly exclaimed.

" I know what'll make this even better! Some coffee from Jitters! I can just run there and be right back in no time!"

Unfortunately, she had forgotten about her leg injury until it was too late. When she tried to run, she immediately tripped and stumbled because of her injury, causing her to crash with a large amount of momentum into the kitchen. Pots, pans, and a number of dishes went crashing onto the floor, a loud chorus of noise ringing out through the room.

A moment later, her dad burst through the bedroom doors, looking for the source of all of the noise, her mom just a few steps behind.

" Well, they're up now I guess." Nora thought.

" Hey guys," Nora said sheepishly, upside down against the lower kitchen cabinets, of which were dented.

" Do you think that someone could grab some coffee? I could really use it today."

" Wow, that was a good breakfast." Barry commented, after they had all just finished eating (and cleaning up Nora's mess).

" Yeah, thanks Nora," added Iris.

Nora, finishing the last sip of her tenth coffee, said " And that's not all! We have a little bit of time before we get to Star Labs, so I made some plans for the morning. I mean, assuming that's okay."

" That sounds great." Barry said, smiling.

" Great! We can leave now!" Nora exclaimed as she jumped up out of her chair.

" Um, Nora, can we have a few minutes to put ourselves together first?" Iris laughed.

Nora noticed that both of her parents were still in their pajamas.

" Whoops, sorry." she said, rubbing the back of her head.

" I'll clean up while you guys get ready."

I'm going to make today the most schway day ever!

There was so much that Nora wanted to cram into one morning that it would've sounded outrageous if she had voiced it all aloud. She had chosen a handful of activities for today, and saved the rest on her digital holo-pad for another time.

" You'll be here for more than just today." she reminded herself.

" Okay people, " Nora told her parents as they all walked down the sidewalk.

Iris was dressed in a gray knee-length skirt and a yellow buttoned blouse that gave her an air of authority. In contrast, Barry was dressed in a blue and red flannel shirt and jeans that brought out his kind smile. Nora meanwhile, was wearing her purple leather jacket (which was rather reminiscent of her Xs suit) over her brightly patterned top, along with blue jeans.

" We have an hour before we need to head to work and to Star Labs, so let's spend as much time together as we can!"

" First up, I think that we should visit Jitters real quick, another coffee or two won't hurt anyone. Next we can go to the park and take a nice family walk, then we can visit the museum! I mean, it's no Flash Museum, but still. Oh! I I was thinking that we could end the day with some ice cream from..." Nora quickly labeled.

" Woah, woah! Slow down there." Iris laughed.

" There will be plenty of time for us to do all this stuff at some point, but let's make sure that we slow down and appreciate what we have in front of us," Barry said, smiling at his daughter.

" Okay, you're right," Nora agreed, catching her breath.

" Let's start with the first two items on the agenda, and then go from there."

" That sounds great, " Barry happily said.

" And one other thing Nora," Iris added, " I think that ten coffees is enough for you this morning."

" Well you can never have too much coffee in Central City!" Nora laughed.

And then all three of them burst into laughter, a happy family reunited.

After a quick swing by Jitters (of which they had settled that Nora would only get one coffee), the three West-Allens went on a nice family walk through Central City Park. She noticed that everyone else at the park seemed to be having a good day too. Families laughed and played with each other, sitting at picnics or playing games. The sun shone brightly in the sky, its warmth adding to the happy mood. Nora was especially happy herself, because she was spending time with the people that she cared about the most. She did have to keep reminding herself every few steps though that she still needed a crutch to walk, as she'd trip and stumble every other step.

" This decommissioned leg sure is a pain." Nora thought.

" Thank you, both of you, for letting me come back." Nora said emotionally, as they all continued to stroll down the park.

" I know that it must not have been easy with what I did," she avoided her father's eyes for that part, " But I'm glad that you've given me a second chance, and I'm not going to mess it up this time."

" Nora, we're family. You're our daughter." Barry smiled.

" We may get into fights or disagreements, we'll all make mistakes, but there will never be a time where we don't all care about each other. And nothing will change that." Iris added, in a way that made Nora think that she was talking to Barry too.

Nora smiled, her heart indescribably full of joy.

" And we're not going anywhere." Barry finished.

" I love you guys," she said smiling.

" We love you too Nora." Barry said.
