The mall (part one)

Through shooting stars by A Million in Vermillion plays in Mat's ears as he lays on his bed staring at the sealing. "Are you okay, did you eat any breakfast, we're gonna go to the mall and I really want you to come with us, you can't stay in your room forever you know, Mat!" Rei said as he turned the lights in Mat's room on, causing Mat to barry himself into the covers. "Dude you've been wearing the same thing for the past week, you can't live like this." Rei said as he ripped the covers off of Mat and took his headphones off from his ears. "Mmsmsmugh" Mat said plopping onto the bed right after "Come on, we're gonna go to the mall and literally everyone is going to be there so you're gonna need to help me here." Rei said, going through Mat's closet and picking some clothes for him. "Take a shower and put this on." Rei said as he walked out and talked to one of their friends Sage. "Why do I have to do this, can't they see that I'm going through something right now, can't they just let me be?" Mat said washing his hair. "Are we not letting you be? Yes, you might be going through some stuff but it's good to distract yourself from your problems by going somewhere exciting." One of Mat's friends, Brittany, said. "Brittany, what the fuck man!" Mat said, putting the shower curtain over his body. "I just came to get a hair clip from Kait plus it's not like I'm staring, only Kait can do that." Brittany said, walking away. "That wasn't funny!" Mat said yelling from the bathroom. "I'm pretty sure it was!" Brittany said, putting the clip into her hair. "No!" Mat said "Yes!" Brittany said "Maybe! Like seriously why do you guys have to act like children." Cris , one of their friends, said grabbing Brittany's arm and brought her to the living room. Mat then quickly put on a shirt and pants and ran to see that all of his friends were there Rei, Vinny, Sel, Kevin, Sage, Cris, Brittany, Ruri, Sofiya, Steven, Aaron, Jacob and also Kait. "Your shirt is inside out." Kevin said as Mat quickly fixed it and stared at Kevin with a fierce look. "Okay then, are we gonna go in our own cars or just one?" Rei asked "It'll be kind of dumb to go in seperate cars since were all going to the same place anyway." Jacob said "Yeah, I think we can all fit in Kevin's car." Aaron said "Okay let's go then." Rei said as he stood up at the same time as Sofiya. The group then crammed themselves into the car like a game of tetris and Kait and Mat found themselves sitting next to each other. "Are you sure we can't go in separate cars, I kinda feel uncomfortable." Mat said, putting his arms into his sweater. "Nope Jacob chose this!" Sel said "And I regret it so let's get out." Jacob said. "I also feel uncomfortable." Kait said "We said no, okay!" Rei yelled, looking over at Kait and Mat as the group shut their mouths.

When the group entered the mall they kind of separated with Mat, Kait, Sel, Rei, Ruri, Steven, and Sofiya being in one group as the others created their own group, Sofiya and Rei were at the front and surprisingly close to each other with Mat with Ruri and Steven with Kait behind them, since Kait and Mat were still awkward, Sel walked behind all of them. "I wish for everybody in this mall to see Kait." Mat thought to himself as he continued to walk alongside Ruri as people stared at Kait. "So where do you guys wanna go first?" Rei asked "We could go get something to snack on." Sel said "I really like that drink with the chewy round things at the bottom." Kait said "Oh, you mean boba?" Steven said "I'm down for boba." Ruri said as they then all started to walk down to get to the restaurant. "I honestly don't know why Rei wants me here, it's hella awkward and yeah what Brittany said might be true but how can I distract myself when the opposite side of the situation is literally right there." Mat told himself speeding up his walking. "The balls in my mouth feel so good." Sel said, taking a sip from his boba. "Why do you have to be like this?" Rei asked as he put his drink on the table as Mat's stomach started to rumble. "I told you that you should've gotten something." Sofiya said "We can share mine if you want." Kait said, passing the cup over to him. "Nah its fine I can just buy one myself." Mat said. "No, I insist." Kait said, pushing the cup over to him. "And I said I was fine." Mat said, standing up. "Just take the goddamn drink!" Rei said, pushing the cup to Mat's chest as Mat took a sip from it and passed it to Kait. "I'm gonna go to that one anime store if you guys wanna come with me." Sel said "Me, Mat, and Steven will go." Rei said, grabbing Mat's arm. "I never agreed to this." Mat said "Can I go, I really like that one show with the monsters and swords." Kait said "Nah, I think you would like this spot better." Ruri said, grabbing Kait's hand and bringing her to the opposite side of the mall. "Do you think they have any Honkai body pillows, I need something to hug." Mat said, "Can we talk?'' Rei asked, "Sure, what's up?" Mat asked "I should be asking that to you, why cant you be fucking happy, whatever happened already happened you cant keep living in your own sorrow forever." Rei said "Have you not experienced this with Ruri or even with Vinny?" Mat asked. "Yeah but I learned to get over it and me and my ex's are on pretty good terms." Rei said "It's not fucking easy, I just wanna be alone after waisting so much time on something without really getting any reward from it." Mat said. "So you're not happy that you got your first kiss and first relationship, are you not happy that you made that wish?" Rei asked. "I am but the pain of getting all that taken away is a feeling that I just need to get adjusted to." Mat said "It's fine plus I bought us some stuff." Sel said. "So I see that you and Mat are not quite on equal footing yet." Ruri stated "Yeah, I try to do nice stuff for him and try to cooperate but it seems like he doesn't care about anything anymore." Kait said "Boys will be boys." Ruri said "Wait, Rei was like this too?" Kait asked "Yep very much so, there was a period of time where we didn't talk at all and when he met Vinny we started talking less and less, it was only recently when we even started talking a little." Ruri said. "And what did you do?" Sofiya asked "I gave him what he wanted, I gave him his space and eventually I just asked if he was fine and when he didn't respond I went to his dorm." Ruri explained. "So you want me to give Mat some space?" Kait asked "Yep, if that's what you think you two need, he'll come back anyway." Ruri said "I mean he kind of has too, we made a promise that once our break is over we'll get back together no matter how long it takes." Kait said "Aw that's really cute." Sofiya said. "Ruri, me and the boys were trying to look for you guys for the longest time." Steven said, panting. "Oh, sorry about that, do you guys wanna go somewhere else?" Ruri said "I'm down for some food if you guys are." Sel said "Okay I'll call Kevin." Rei said "Wait no, let me try something right quick" Sel said as he started yelling from across the mall to Aaron who responded with yelling as well. "I could have literally just called one of them." Rei said. "I think they might be at the food court already." Sel explained as he ran up the escalators and saw that Aaron was where he predicted and with the rest of the group.

As everyone ordered their food at one place Mat decided to just get a bag of chips from the vending machine since he still didn't want to interact with people yet, as everyone came back with their trays of food it was like a swarm of an assortment of different voices and Mat started to get hungry looking at his tiny bag of chips that had nothing left. "C...Can I have a bite, I mean only if you feel like it." Mat asked, turning to look over at Kait who was next to him. "Sure." Kait said as she fed him some rice. "Thank you Kait." Mat said as he then stared at his phone. "Can we talk?" Sage asked Mat. "Okay." Mat said as they walked to another table. "I heard that you and Kait are on a break and that you're in sad boi times, do you wanna talk about it?" Sage said. "Not really, I kinda just think that I need some space and think of what I can improve, if you need any info Rei has all of it." Mat said. "What you did back there was pretty slick." Sage explained. "What do you mean?" Mat asked "When you asked for a bite of her food she blushed, that has to show something, it has to show that she still likes you, even a little bit." Sage said "I know that she still likes me." Mat said. "And you obviously like her, so why not get back together?" Sage asked.          "I think you guys have been misunderstanding this whole situation, we never broke up, we're on a break." Mat said. "Mat, when a girl says that she wants a break from you that almost always means that she wants to break up with you ." Sage said. "We can't break up, she made me a promise." Mat said "What did she promise?" Sage asked, now confused. "She promised that after our break, no matter how long it takes and no matter what happens we will find each other and get back together." Mat said "That's the cringiest shit I've ever heard, you really think that you two are gonna make it that long?" Sage asked. "We made a promise, okay." Mat said. "Why would you agree to something like that?" Sage said. "Because I don't care if she finds someone else during our break, I don't care if it takes us 20 days or 20 years because I made that wish and I wish she could come back to me, I like her okay! Mat said as he pushed out of his seat and stood up as everyone in the food court stared at him including Kait. Then the group looked at Kait knowing that any wish that Mat makes affects Kait but nothing happened and instead Mat sat down with his face red through embarrassment. "It's alright Mat at least you got it all out, you opened up your heart." Sage said, as Kait walked over to Mat and gave him a hug, Mat sat stunned. Mat then stood up and pressed her along his body. "I'm sorry Kait." Mat said. "You're right, no matter how long it takes, thank you Mat without you I wouldn't even be alive, I'm glad that you made that wish." Kait explained, "I'm glad too." Mat said "Do you think we need space?" Kait asked, "No." Mat replied "What I needed was this." Mat thought as he brought Kait closer to him.
