Kait wakes up one morning as she notices she can't smell anything, she starts to lose her sense of touch and tries to see if this is a dream or reality by poking Mat's face, Mat is unfazed. Kait then enters a space completely deprived of light, of all senses, of all emotion, it was...nothing. Kait in this space, terrified, curls up into a ball not being able to feel the tears running down her face. She then feels something on her waist as she is then able to see again. "The fuck happend! Kait are you okay, don't do that again, I thought you ran away." Mat said as he held Kait close. "S...sorry." Kait said as she looked down. "So are you not gonna explain why you left reality for like ten minutes?" Mat asked.

"I mean there is nothing I can really explain myself, it just happens and when it does I can't feel anything at all, it's...scary." Kait said as she hugged Mat. Mat and Kait then got dressed for school as they met up with the rest of the roomies. Kait took three steps into the kitchen and then disappeared back into the void. "Where'd she go?" Steven asked. "Mat, did you like teleport her somewhere?" Ruri asked as everyone surrounded Mat and Kait came back. "What was that?" Sel asked. "It's this thing thats been happening lately where I just, out of nowhere, go into this space with absolutely nothing, my body starts to fade, I cant taste anything, you know stuff like that." Kait explained. "We have to go to the hospital, get you some help, or at least do something." Ruri yelled.

"No, if we go to the hospital regardless of if we get a doctor we can trust, do you really think that anyone is going to believe us? Plus if they do believe us don't you think the government is gonna get involved or potentially take Kait away from us? Nah dude, I'm good just looking after her, we can't risk anything or at least not with eyes already being on both me and her at school." Mat said with his arms crossed. "Right, for the most part I can keep it under control so...no worries?" Kait said as the rest of the group looked at her, worried.

The group went to school and it was smooth sailing for the most part, until lunch/break came along. As Mat and Kait walked to the cafeteria Mat waved at Hao but Hao merely rolled his eyes at the sight of him and Kait together. "Did you guys ever actually break up?" Kait asked. "No, but he makes it pretty obvious that he doesn't like me anymore plus he was an asshole already, I don't know why I thought we could actually work, I always thought he was cool and nice but I guess it was just an act." Mat said as he kept walking in the hallway, now in front of Kait.

"C,mon let's go eat." Mat said with a bright smile. Kait and Mat then sat down next to each other at a table with everyone else there as well, Kait stared at a giant poster of blue and silver that read "Prom is coming up so get your dresses and a tux and let's party!" "So what's this whole prom thing, is it like a holiday or something?" Kait asked looking at Ruri and Sofiya. "Nah, its this last celebration that seniors get before school ends, I don't really want to go though, it seems super cringe." Sofiya explained. "Idk, I kinda wanna go, I mean media has hyped it up so much that I kinda wanna check out what the deal is." Mat explained as the rest of the group looked at him. "What? Look, all I'm saying is that every teen romance story ends with a dance scene." Mat explained (FUCK he's one step ahead of me and I'm the author!). "I'll go with you, I mean it seems like fun and I haven't done something like it." Kait said looking at Mat whose face was completely red. "We can all go together, it'd be way more fun to go as friends than with dates and shit." Ruri explained as Steven ate and glanced at her thinking "Right, no dates...no feelings at all."

Mat and Kait left the cafeteria as they then approached their next class, biology. They were discussing adaptation between living organisms. They talked about how overtime humans adapted the features that they have today and that humans still have some features from their passed and how some of these features cause rarity between different people. They discussed how animals for the most part adapt due to their habitat such as birds and their beaks and dogs with fur. This caused Mat and Kait to think, what if Kait's situation ,similar to something like migration with birds or butterflies, was prompting her to enter this void as a means of protection. As they continued to ponder this, they passed notes with what they thought and then Mat wrote down "If this is something like adaptation and migration then what's causing you to leave reality?" Class then promptly came to an end and soon enough school had done so as well. As everyone else at their school ran out of the building Mat and Kait gathered their extended friend group to their biology class and shared their notes as they then saw their biology teacher come into the classroom.

"Woah,  I never thought I'd see so many of you here." The biology teacher said as he walked up Mat's desk and read the things in his notebook. "Ah, I see you are all discussing the topic from earlier today. Would you all like to know more or ask any questions?" The teacher said. "Actually Mr. Connors, we would, what would prompt a small species to migrate to a whole different place that would seem almost out of nowhere?" Kait asked. "Well I'd say it'd be out of extreme circumstance, think of a rare breed of birds that lives in the northern hemisphere if that area becomes too cold, too hot, polluted, built over by buildings. The northern hemisphere would no longer be a suitable place for that species." Mr. Connors explained. "That makes sense, they'd be doing it out of survival and for their own sake of protection." Mat said. "Exactly." Mr. Connors said as Kait wrote notes down in her notebook and skimmed through a textbook but then she disappeared. "Mr Connors, we really need your help." Steven said.
