Chapter eleven

As Sofiya and Steven walked to get to Mat's dorm there was utter silence with Steven thinking if Ruri would be there and Sofiya thinking of how she would even function around Rei. Steven opened the door slowly as it began to creak and everyone began to stare at them Kevin, Mat, Sel, Rei, Ruri, and Kait. "Hey guys." Steven said awkwardly, trying not to make eye contact with Ruri. "Hey, wanna head to my room to work on the project?" Rei asked Steven '"Yeah, whatever is fine with you." Steven said as they waved goodbye to their friends and walked away. "Hey Ruri, hey Kait, it's nice to officially meet you." Sofiya said, hugging them both.

"So uh hows Steven?" Ruri asked Sofiya "Oh he's fine but I can't believe you told him about Kait first and not one of your best friends." Sofiya said "Wait so you knew about the "thing" before the speech even happened?" Mat and Kait said at the same time. "Oh right, I forgot to tell you this but I kinda told Steven about Kait and how she came from a wish and everything you told me almost immediately after I came over." Ruri said "Dude! Kait's whole thing is that people are not supposed to see her and now more and more people are beginning to notice her thanks to that bitch over there." Mat said looking over at Sel "I said sorry." Sel said "Yeah and what's wrong with people being able to see me?" Kait said, folding her arms. "Nothing its just if you came to me without people being able to see you it should have been for a reason." Mat said "The whole school literally knows and eventually if I want to go anywhere besides this dorm I'm gonna need people to see me." Kait said "You know what we'll talk about this later." Mat said "Yeah I bet we will, Matthew." Kait said as they both sat at different sides of the dining table. "We'll let you guys talk it out, me and Sofiya are gonna be in the living room." Ruri said walking away.

"So how is the thing with you and Rei?" Ruri asked as she nudged her shoulder into Sofiya. "I like him and I want to do something but I don't know what, plus you're his ex don't you think that'll be weird." Sofiya asked "Nah go for him, I'm kinda done with boys, for now at least. If you really like him you should hint at it and hopefully he'll figure it out on his own." Ruri said "But how?" Sofiya asked. "Try to be around him more and try to be a little more touchy, but not too touchy, basically just make him feel like you want his company." Ruri said "Oh that makes sense, thanks for the advice." Sofiya said. In Rei's room we can see that Steven and Rei are working on a project that is due in the next few days but more so they are just finding an excuse to play video games without people getting angry at them. "So how's it going with you know who?" Rei asked. "Um it's fine I guess we don't really talk much in real life it's more of a texting back and forth kinda thing." Steven said "Are you thinking about doing anything to get past the friend tier?" Rei asked "I don't know, I feel like I'm making progress but I'm also scared of interacting with her, she can be really intimidating." Steven said "Yeah I get that." Rei said as he drop kicked Steven in the video game. "Are you sure you're fine with me liking one of your ex girlfriends, will it be too weird?" Steven asked as he punched Rei in the face as a come back to the drop kick. "Nah it's honestly fine with me, after Vinny I kinda just felt like staying single for the remainder of high school." Rei said as he comboed Steven and K.Oed him. "Okay, do you wanna go back to everyone else? I think we've done enough work for today." Steven said as they both looked at the one sentence they wrote together with pride and walked out of the room as they saw Kait and Mat mad at each other, Sofiya braiding Ruri's hair, and Kevin and Sel roasting each other in a video game.

"Ding '' Mat sent Kait a gif of a cat saying sorry as he looked up at her. "No you're not! Just because you can control me with your weird wish magic doesn't mean you can do it forever!" Kait said as she stormed to her and Mat's room. "Kait come back! Mat yelled as Kait locked the door and slammed it in his face. "Did we miss something?" The group asked as Mat fell to the floor. "I think this might be me and Kait's first ever fight." Mat said, tearing up and putting his face into his hands. "What happened?" Sel asked "I was saying that people shouldn't be able to see her and now that is changing and she was saying that it shouldn't be a bad thing that people can see her and then I said sorry but then she got even more mad and now she thinks that I'm controlling her." Mat said "Well this is you guys' first relationship and the reason why you two met is...unique." Ruri said "Yeah, that is kinda true but yet again she shouldn't have stormed out, with all the rules you have against her this was kind of predictable." Kevin said "Mat, I'm really sorry about this, if you want I can go talk to her for you." Rei said as Mat boosted up from the floor with tears along his face. "I don't need her anyway, this is better for me than it is for her." Mat said "Do you seriously know what you're doing? This person is your dream girl and she likes you very much and you're just gonna push her away like that?" Ruri asked as Kait opened the door with tears on her face. "Mat can we talk?" Kait asked as Mat slowly walked into their room. "We're gonna spy on them right?" Sofiya asked "Duh" Steven said as the group put their ears to the door.

"I just want to start off by saying that I love you very much Mat and nothing we do will ever change that." Kait said "I agree." Mat said "But I also think that it is not fair to me that you have the power to wish for me to be somewhere you are or pick which people can see me or not." Kait said "Yes that makes sense." Mat said "I also want to add that I just knew you for a few months now and that this is my first relationship and also yours." Kait said "Yes, you are very much speaking facts." Mat said "What I think I am trying to say is that I think we should take a break until we get to know each other more." Kait said "That's fine with me, I know I haven't been the best partner and that I haven't been giving you the freedom that you deserve but I do hope that this is just a break and that we do eventually get back together again." Mat said "Can we hug one last time?" Kait asked as she plopped on top of the bed. "Sure" Mat said as he plopped himself on top of the bed and Kait hugged him and buried herself into his chest,crying. "It's gonna be fine, I love you, you know that right?" Mat said as he put his chin on top of her head as a singular tear dripped on to Kait's head. "Yeah I know, I just wish we could just have a regular relationship." Kait said as she looked into Mat's eye's "You don't have to be regular, you're perfect just the way you are." Mat said as they hugged each other tighter. "We'll get back together ,someday, I promise." Kait said. "Wait, does that mean I can go for Kait?" Sel said "Bro shut up!" Rei said. "Sorry, bad joke." Sel responded. "I can't believe they just broke up." Ruri said "Can we really call it a break up, they're just taking a break, right?" Steven asked "It doesn't matter what happens next, like they said they still love each other, it will feel weird with them not being with each other all the time though." Rei said as the chapter ends and Kait squeezes Mat with tears dripping from both their eyes.
