Chapter sixteen

Mat's alarm sounds off as he plops off of the couch and Kait's head hits a pillow. "Oh shit, I don't want to be late again, especially now that today Kait can finally go to school, man that paperwork was confusing to sort out." Mat said as he nudged Kait with his leg and ran to his room to get some clothes on as Rei brushed his teeth in the distance. Mat then zoomed into the hallway, almost tripping over Sel. "Yo, watch where you're going!" Sel said, trying to put on his sock. "Kait feed me!" Mat said as Kait threw a pancake into his mouth. "That's kinda sexist my dude." Ruri said as she walked out the front door. "Yeah, are you saying that just because women are stereotypically supposed to be in the kitchen?" Sofiya said getting out and closing the door. "That's not what I meant!" Mat yelled. "Kait, are you ready for your first day at school?" Rei asked. "Not really, telling from the last time I was in one and what everyone has told me." Kait said "That's how you're supposed to feel." Rei said in a deeper voice. "I think you'll be fine, you're really nice and pretty." Sel said "You're hitting on her." Mat said, "But how could I resist such a beautiful girl such as her?" Sel said. "Wow, I'm turned on." Kait said "Really!" Sel said "It was sarcasm bro." Rei said, "Come on, we have to go." Mat said as they got in Rei's car and drove off.

As the day passes by things go pretty smoothly. Mat isnt late for once, Rei starts to talk with Sofiya more, Sel talks to a girl and they finally don't feel so uncomfortable that they run away, Steven and Ruri start to talk more often, and most importantly Kait understands most of her classes and she becomes popular in a way. Near the end of the day they have their exploratory class which is gym and what they learn is fencing. Everyone else practically struggles to follow the rules with Sel just continuing to stab Rei even if they were not paired up together, the only people that were actually able to do decently were Keyin, a tall emo asian boy with a sword collection, and Kait.

As class was about to end Keyin declared a duel between him and Kait and she agreed. They then lowered their helmets and Keyin grabbed his sword saying "If I get a single hit on you then I win, lets see how you do against the strongest sword wielder at this school!" and bowed, charging at Kait who then dodged the hit and they went back and forth hitting each other's swords "This is just like that fight with the strong monster and the red haired boy in that show." Kait thought as she then thrusted her sword at Keyin causing him to dodge quickly out of the way "Clank" their swords touched as they both leaned their swords to the opposite side making a screeching sound. "Ring, Ring, Ring" the school bell rang but they continued to fight as Keyin then jumped on top of a table and leaped over Kait hoping to get a hit from the back but then. "I wish for Kait to teleport behind Keyin." Mat said as she then appeared behind Keyin and slashed at  him causing him to roll out of the way and some younger girls from their school to cheer for him. "Hinokami Kagura!" Kait yelled as she then started to teleport all over the place on Mat's demand and then appeared on top of Keyin and sat down, tapping him on the head with the sword, she won. "LETS GO!" Sel yelled as everyone in their friend group ran to go hug and congratulate her as the girls from before ran to help Keyin as he stood up and put his hand out for Kait to shake "It might not have been the fairest fight I've ever had but it was one of the most interesting ones so I'm glad that you took my spot as best swordsman." Keyin said "Thanks, I had a pretty good competitor." Kait said as Keyin then took his helmet off and walked away with a flock of 14 year old girls following after him. "How about we celebrate and eat out today, I'll pay." Mat said "Finally I'm not the one paying around here." Kevin said "You're richer compared to us." Rei said going through his wallet to only find 15 dollars and some monopoly money. The sky then began to change color as the gang walked into the sunset.
