Chapter thirty

"Mattie wake up." Kait said, poking Mat's face as Mat opened his eyes and got out of bed. "So how are you feeling today? I mean did you disappear at all?" Mat asked as Kait sat up on his bed and Mat picked out his fit for the day. "No, everything has been fine for the most part, how about you, is your scar okay?" Kait asked as she walked over to Mat. "I mean I will be, shit could be worse." Mat said as Kait and Mat then met each other's eyes and Kait touched Mat's stomach. "Can I check?" Kait asked as Mat nodded and Kait lifted his shirt to check his scar. "The fuck are you two doing?" Ruri asked as she barged through Mat's room and saw Mat and Kait. Kait quickly moved her hands from Mat's stomach as Mat quickly pulled his shirt down. They stood in awkward silence with their faces red as Ruri slowly closed the door as she left saying "Just pick up the pace, Rei is getting his car ready." Mat and Kait then got dressed and headed towards Rei's, deciding to sit next to each other.

As the group entered the school grounds they saw tons of people proposing to others for prom. Mat grabbed Kait's hand causing her to blush uncontrollably and disappear. Mat started to count the seconds passing by as Kait then appeared a few feet behind him, she quickly ran to his side to grab his hand. "Woah, you don't gotta be so passive aggressive with the hand holding, anyway you came back in under a minute so I'm really happy." Mat said as Kait, annoyed, walked beside him. "You good?" Mat asked. "I'm just so mad at myself, every time you do anything I just disappear and I don't want to, everytime I'm with you it's ruined with a pitch black area of completely nothing." Kait said. "You know the easiest way out of this is to just not interact with me right?" Mat said "But yet here you are holding my hand, why is that?" Mat asked. "Oh that was the bell, gotta go." Kait said as she then started running to class.

After very little classes the students at school were all allowed to leave for PROM. (do you guys say the prom or just prom?) As Mat and Kait entered their home  Ruri stood in front of them, preventing them from going anywhere. "Kait can I steal you for a sec? I have a bunch of cute dresses that you can pick out for later today and if you don't like any of them we can quickly buy one." Ruri said. "Sure, let me see them." Kait said as she then skipped to Ruri's room. Mat then sat down on his bed as he looked at some lyrics that he had written on his phone. He had written down up to six verses of a song that he called El memento and he was about to press record. He shut his door, his eyes, and any  noise around him as he took a deep breath in and pressed record on the music software. He began to sing, the rhythm of the song became so natural to him as before he knew it he had already sung the vocals. He then added some humming and made some visuals to go along with it and the song was completed.

"Wow, I can't believe I made this, I mean it actually sounds okay, I can get Kait's opinion on it when we're in bed later. Oh my god that sounds so wrong!" Mat thought as his face turned red, covering it with his hands.

The girl's at this time were testing out prom dresses, Ruri had hers folded at her side and Sofiya had her's laying on her lap but Kait had'nt made her decision. Kait then opened the door to the bathroom as she then presented herself in a  strapless, flowy, turquoise dress. "It fits pretty nicely but I don't know if I actually look okay." Kait said as she fixed some hair behind her ear. "Kait you look beautiful!" Sofiya yelled as Ruri stared at Kait and nodded. "I feel like a mom right now." Ruri said as she hugged Kait. "So I guess this is the dress." Kait thought as she smiled and hugged Sofiya and Ruri. The roomates then all got ready with the girl's preparing their hair and make up and the boys doing what they do best, trying to figure out how the FUCK someone is supposed to tie a tie.

The boys eventually figured it out and were already ready at this point so they sat on the couch with their phones as they waited for the girls to get out of their room. Ruri was the first of which to do so as she wore a silky dark blue dress with her hair down, laying upon her chest . Steven tried to sit unfazed at the mere sight of Ruri's beauty as he distracted himself through his phone. Ruri sat next to Mat and began to talk "Kait is gonna blow your mind dude, when we all saw that dress we knew it was going to be the one." Ruri said smiling as Sofiya exited, entered the living room with a long lavender colored dress and curled hair up to her shoulders, the red streaks in her hair glistening in the light. Rei then stood up as he hugged Sofiya and then they sat down next to each other on the couch.

It was then Kait's turn, she stepped out of her room as her wavy hair split down the middle flipped through the air and the turquoise dress flowed as she walked. Mat sat stunned at what god had given him. "We should probably go now, I heard that a lot of people are helping with decorations and I really wanna contribute plus i'd rather go their early than miss the whole thing." Ruri said as she started to head out as the couples plus the best couple Sel and Steven walked behind her.

The roomies then entered the gym of their school as they saw that almost no progress was made to make prom actually look like a good prom, all they saw were streamers hanging from the ceiling, an empty table meant for food at a corner of the gym, and a speaker in the center of it all. "This just looks sad." Steven said. "Aight I'm leaving." Sofiya said as Rei grabbed her by the wrist, pulling her back to the group. "We can fix this right?" Ruri said, looking at the group, suddenly the lights turned off and the group saw a figure of someone carrying what looked like a huge bag. The figure then started to laugh, almost miniachly, the lights then turned back on as they saw that it was Kevin with their extended friend group behind him. After a short reunion the group started to get to work as they set up food, cleaned the gym floor, set up music, and made some decorations.

No one was able to reach the tall places of the gym, Kait looked toward Mat. "Can you wish for me to get up their?" Kait asked. "How is that gonna work, you have nothing to teleport to?" Mat asked as Kait pointed to a pipe on the ceiling. "Nah bro that's too dangerous." Mat said, Kait pouted as she just stared at Mat, waiting for him to agree. "Okay, just be careful." Mat said as he wished for Kait to teleport to the pipe. Kait then vanished from where she was standing and then appeared tightly gripping to the pipe while also trying her hardest to decorate as well.

"I wish for Kait to be where I am." Mat said as kait was then suddenly teleported into his arms. Kait then suddenly vanished.
