Chapter 14:Preparation

It was a few days after chirstmas.I was going to Katheryne to receive my rewards for completing my daily commissions.However, just like the Oceanid incident, Katheryne called me before I left.

"Traveller!May I interest you in another special commission?"Katheryne asks.

Learning my lesson from last time, I replied, "Sure, if you tell me what boss I need to fight."

Katheryne smiles and explains, "This time, you have to slay the Geo Hypostasis which is located towards the east of Liyue, near Guyun Stone Forest.As you can tell by the name, its main element is Geo.The Geo Hypostasis takes the form of a cube, just like the anemo Hypostasis in Mondsdaht.You should be able to find several books in Liyue's library about it that can assist you in preparing to fight The Geo Hypostasis.There's a really lenient deadline for this one, which is in a week.So feel free to prepare all you want!"

Satisfied, I agreed to do the commision.I immediately went to the library to gather information on The Geo Hypostasis.The helpful librarian there brought us a stack of books about The Geo Hypostasis.Paimon and I then flipped the pages and spent three hours of our afternoon reading.I learnt that since The Geo Hypostasis's element is Geo, Geo characters cannot deal any damage to it; so the prospect of asking Zhongli to come and help was now useless.However, a few minutes later THAT fact was also disproven.

Paimon found out that claymore users, Geo vision holders or not, are really good against The Geo Hypostasis.Zhongli had also defeated the Geo Hypostasis once in the past too, so I assume he would be of use.I decided to brush up on my claymore skills.

As I reached an open field where I could practise fighting with a claymore, Xiao appeared.

"Xiao!Your done with killing Hilichurls now right?"I asked.

Xiao nods.

"What are you doing?"he asks.

I explained my commission to Xiao and his eyes narrowed.

"You didn't accept another dumb commission without thinking again, did you?"Xiao asks.

"Of course not!"I replied, "This time I'm actually researching on what I have to fight.I won't be running into the arena blind."

"Good.I just don't want you to be in danger again."Xiao says, blushing slightly.

"Thank you Xiao, that was sweet of you."I replied.

I swung my claymore and killed a Geo slime that had bounced to us.

"I think I'm familiar enough with Claymores now.Should we invite anyone to join us in fighting The Geo Hypostasis?I'm thinking of inviting Zhongli and Noelle."I said.

"Then I'll ask them now.How about we fight it at 4p.m?We can divide the spoils after."Xiao says.

I kissed Xiao on the cheek and thanked him.He was really supporting of my job.After getting Paimon some riceballs to eat, Xiao reappears with Zhongli and Noelle.

"Traveller!It's been awhile!I haven't seen you since fall!"Noelle says.

"Yeah, it has been awhile.How's Jean and the others doing?"I asked.

Noelle told me that Mondsdaht has had the longest period of peace since I left.For once there was nothing attacking the land, and Venti was back to just being a normal bard.The knights of Favonius was thriving, Klee has made 10 new bombs since I left(one of which had exploded the Dawn Winery yesterday, and caused Klee to be reprimanded by Jean), Diluc is rebuilding the Dawm Winery and Jean was visited by someone from Sumeru Akademiya this morning.(Guess who? 😉) Zhongli has been working a lot, even though he was starting to get bored of his job. He was starting to get bored of life, actually.Eternity is more of a curse than a blessing, after all.I never had that experience, as every dimension held new inventions and places to explore.Being confined to one dimension can become boring after around a thousand years.

"Well, shall we depart for Guyun Stone Forest?"Zhongli asks monotonously.

I could already sense the boredom in his voice.I then made a note in my head that I would make Zhongli be interested in life again.

"Yes, we should, if we want to make it back to Liyue by nightfall."I said.

I turn to look at Xiao, smiling cheekily.Xiao rolls his eyes.

"Fine, I'll teleport all of you there."he says.

Author's Notes:Its two days before my first exam! :'D 📝 I've decided to write smaller chapters cause thats all I can manage these days.I only write 500 words/50 mins 😔 so my chapters will be around 500+ words from now on.I'll try to post as regularly as possible, but Im starting to lose interest in this story so in end in about two chapters or so.(but don't worry, I'll have a satisfactory ending nonetheless 😉) Anyways, have a good day/night! ❤️✨
