It wasn't long for the Friday to roll into the much awaited Saturday. At this point, most people knew who they were going with. Gaten would bring his girlfriend, which the Duffer Brothers were not against, though she wasn't part of the set.
Millie was going with Noah, no surprise there. The two are much like Sadie and Annabelle. Inseparable. With the difference that Sadie was not going to go to the event with Elle. Rather, Finn Wolfhard.
Now, if you had asked Annabelle a week ago if she was jealous from Finn in any way, shape or form, she would have laughed at you in the face. Why would she be? He is a man, and she thought she liked men.
A lie.
With her family getting entirely cut off from her life, she felt free to breathe again. To function like a normal person, to go out without fear of seeing them or the man that they set her up with. Just the thought of them never having a say in her life anymore felt like she finally won the 20 year old war.
And it also meant that she could finally explore why her best friend created butterflies in her stomach and why she would get lost in her eyes. And why it never happened with men.
The blonde girl was planning on 'coming out' to the public as well, but not before she could talk to Sadie about her feelings. It could go either very good or very bad. There was no in-between. And having in mind that her best friend ought to be straighter than a line, the chance of it going good was about 5%. Or less.
The entire morning for Annabelle was her pacing around the hotel room, as if trying to collect her scattered nerves from all around the place. And she didn't even know why it was so hard to concentrate on her daily activities. She rarely went out for a walk, much less a run, but in a situation where she couldn't stay in one place for more than a minute, she decided to give it a shot.
She picked short clothes from the ground, despite the tingling coldness outside. Running would heat her body up anyway, so she didn't feel like sweating even more before Caleb even had a chance to take her out to the wrap party.
Going down, she waved a couple of fans, before getting to work. The hotel had a park, 5 kilometers in both ways. It went around a lake, so it was perfect for running, or as perfect as it could get. It was for sure more private than the otherwise full parks, where she could easily get recognized.
Putting her hair in a high ponytail, she started slowly, picking up pace after every step. Annabelle never really ran so far, unless it was on set. Some scenes required her to run a kilometer with cameras all around her. That's one of the very last times she considered doing it.
But right now, she was determined to push through the muscle soreness, like her life depended on it. And in a strange, twisted way, it did.
500 meters mark was made, but she didn't stop. The blonde definitely wasn't running as fast as she could, but it was enough to make her breath go quicker and her heart beat pick up pace.
700 meters and she felt like her body was begging her to stop. Her muscles were aching painfully, but she ignored them. The pain was not one she couldn't endure, at least not for now. Instead, she tried going faster, feeling the need to push herself to do better.
And then, it was like something within her unlocked. Was it the adrenaline that people talked about? Annabelle had no clue, but her aching muscles were no problem anymore. Her mind cleared for a few seconds, or more like went blank. She was sure that if she hadn't done it for 800 meters now, her legs would forget how to run and stop her right then and there.
But the addicting feeling of happiness flooded her instead, and she smiled to herself, continuing faster and faster.
Until she hit her peak, and with that started slowing down and finding a rhythm that would allow her to continue with fairly good speed. Once she settled in that range, she felt like she could run for forever without tiredness catching up onto her.
