Annabelle wasn't sure what she expected London to be like. Most of the time it was rainy and you were taken for a lunatic, had you not brought an umbrella with you, no matter how sunny the day looked like. Despite that, she was hopeful that this time would be different. Perhaps it was due a little sun to brighten her day.
That didn't happen. When only 40 minutes were left until their plane landed, she noticed the little droplets on the window. A deep sigh made its way out of her lungs, that thankfully did not wake up the girl sleeping beside her.
Sadie had barely said anything on her way to the airport, through security or while boarding the plane. Annabelle was so caught up in imagining what it could be like with her family, that she had totally forgotten how it was so far. A quick reminder for that was the shaking of the plane, like the entire universe was trying to tell her the truth - that it would be different this time. That her mom would hug her, show her any type of emotions except hatred.
She could vaguely remember what it was like when she was little. Her bigger sister was the star of the family - quickly finding a good show to act in and thus quickly gaining popularity throughout her school years. Emilia would sometimes play with her, but she quickly let go of that once the favoritism got to her head. Her dad wasn't very different from her mom. He would be, however, rather harsh in his way of executing punishments. Something that Annabelle noticed was that, when it came to remembering that, it was a blank memory with no pain involved.
She didn't know whether to be thankful regarding that or not.
Her brother was different. Very different. He was older, yes, but he would play with her on his computer or on the playground. A faint smile crawled on her face while remembering how good he was towards her. Like he was the father and mother figure she lacked through her childhood. He'd be there when she was sad, happy or simply bored.
The blonde girl did not blame him when he left. He was so grossed out by their father that he rarely spoke English after that. It's exactly the reason he spoke German with them and with her.
Her smile faded.
And Sadie woke up. She looked beautiful even in the little to no light that the plane provided. Annabelle wasn't sure if it was the clouds making it seem like it was dark or it was truly night. The Redhead looked around before nuzzling closer to Annabelle and closing her eyes.
"Don't fall asleep, we are landing in a bit. Your eardrums are going to explode." Annabelle joked but Sadie's sleepy expression changed to worried before she caught up onto it. The slight smile was enough to warm up the blonde in a way that would otherwise be impossible in this situation. No response. "Are you going to ignore me the entire time we are in London?"
"I wasn't planning on it, but now that you ask, maybe I should." Sadie half-joked, but Elle didn't see the humor in it. The Redhead looked through the window beside her and saw that they were indeed going to land. She could faintly make sense of the airport below them. "I won't. But I am not happy with this... situation."
"I am sorry." Bella whispered. Her head was laid back, like she was trying to fall asleep but couldn't.
"Don't be. I will come with you to your parents. Sure as hell won't be leaving you alone with them." Her eyes were focused on the nearing ground below them. The pressure in her ears was making it hard to hear what exactly Elle's response was and she was trying to read her lips, but failed. All she was able to get from the interaction was the somewhat real smile of her girlfriend.
The plane landed somewhat smoothly on the ground. The two girls were first in line to get their luggage sorted out and were first in getting through security. The last time Sadie was in London was a long time ago and now it was like the airport was entirely different, in a good way. There was more lightning, slightly better organization and most importantly, a way to rent a car or call a taxi to your hotel.
