Cassie slept peacefully that night, clinging onto her newfound friend that gently grazed her cheek as she slept, it was large enough to be mistaken for a person under the covers, something that lead to a humorous interaction in the morning.
"Cassie, sweetie, you up," Karen softly spoke outside the door, receiving a few mumbles from Cassie as she began to wake up. She watched as the handle on her door twisted, opening slowly. Cassie rubbed her eyes, examining her room, the light shining through the cracks in her curtains. "Sweetie, I just needed your help with- oh my lord," she shouted the last few words, a sudden shock shooting through her bones. The raise in voice only caused Sebastian to awaken, racing towards the voices, his brotherly instincts kicking in. "Cassie, you know you can't bring boys back here!" Cassie was baffled and tired, she genuinely believed she was still dreaming, but the second Sebastian raced into her room, she realised she wasn't dreaming.
"I'm going to drag him out by his throat," he spoke through gritted teeth, walking towards them both. "Cassie Hassing, out of the bed, I will have a word with you in a minute."
"What on earth are you on about?" Cassie groaned looking between them both.
"Don't play dumb now young lady we can see him," Karen argued, placing a basket on her vanity, allowing her to place her hang on her hips as Sebastian walked towards her.
"You have until the count of three," Sebastian demanded.
"What on earth is going on," Cassie stated, still completely clueless.
"1..."
"Sebastian, seriously, I don't get it."
"2..."
"I never thought you would bring someone back from your date." Karen expressed looking over at her disappointed.
"3." With that Sebastian tore the covers away from Cassie, her legs being exposed to the cold gush of wind his motion had created. The room fell silent as they looked over at the stuffed animal that lay beside her, it was big and wide, which caused confusion to fall on all their faces.
"Wait, did you, did you both think," she began to laugh through her words as she looked beside her at her elephant, which held the memories of last night for her, "Did you think I had a boy in my bed?" At that she burst, her eyes tearing up as she laughed hysterically. Moments later Karen joined her, laughing with her.
"Oh sweetie, I'm so sorry, it just, it really looked like," Karen laughed, not even completing her sentences as she gasped for air between her chuckles. "Didn't it Sebastian?"
"It did," he laughed before leaning over to grab the elephant that lay beside her, whilst Cassie stood from her bed, walking over to put on her dressing gown. Her laughter slowly dimmed as she stretched herself out, releasing the tension her body had formed. "So, who's this then?" he asked, examining the giant cushion-like teddy he held in his hand.
"Mr Sunshine," she proudly expressed, "He needed a new home and what home was better than mine." She walked towards Karen who had controlled her laughter, pulling her into a hug. "What did you need help with?"
"Yes, that. So, the television has a weird message on it, and I was just trying to change the channel." Technology was never Karen's strong point, even struggling to use the new coffee machine they had brought, it took her months to learn to use it.
"Already on it," she spoke, walking out of her room, and down the stairs. Sebastian and Karen shared a look before turning to follow her, Sebastian placing Mr sunshine back on the bed before following the two women down to the living room. By the time he had gotten there, the message was gone, and a new channel was on the television talking to itself whilst Karen looked towards Cassie in amazement.
