The week flew by and as Saturday night grew near, Cassie's butterflies multiplied and by Saturday morning she could have lifted from the ground from the number of wings that danced around her. Sebastian had continued to subtly get an answer from Cassie, but she was unbreakable, even arranging for Elijah to pick her up from the bottom of her street so that Sebastian wouldn't know. She had arranged for Chrissy to come over and help her get ready for the evening and spent her morning doing housework and schoolwork, not like she could focus on anything other than the night. Chrissy arrived at 2 in the afternoon, with food in one hand and a large clothing bag in the other, uncontainable excitement for Cassie practically oozing out of her pores.
The music was loud as they danced around the room, catching there breathe by resting on the clothes which littered floor.
"So, what look are we going for, cute and calm or edgy and sexy," Chrissy teased as Cassie tilted her head in pure confusion. Why would she want to dress edgy and sexy at a fair, a carnival for children and families? Chrissy understood, even by the look on Cassie's face that she wasn't planning on changing her look, just to impress a boy, and Chrissy would never ask her to. "Cute little buttercup it is." The girls laughed and discussed all sorts whilst getting ready and by the time 6 rolled around the two were lying on Cassie's bed, ready for the evening of magic ahead.
"Do you think you might actually kiss him?" Chrissy curiously questioned, before silence fell over them, as Cassie studied the question. She most definitely wanted to, but it was whether she had the courage to.
"I don't know," she spoke under her breath, barely audible. Chrissy simply looked over at Cassie, analysing her features, her eyes wondering to another land while she lay motionless, only her chest rising and falling with ease. The alarm clock sent shivers down the pairs spines as they both rose from the bed to its unwelcoming tone, Chrissy scurrying over to turn it off, whilst Cassie laced up her shoes, the red high tops that she had worn to the horrid party, the memories seeming to have washed off them, the only memory being a small spot of blood that had stained part of the lace on her right foot.
"Time to get going little Miss Cassie," Chrissy giggled, pulling Cassie from the bed and over to the door.
"Do I look alright?" Cassie enquired in concern. Chrissy paused and looked over Cassie in awe, stunned by her beauty, with a small sense of sorrow, unable to comprehend how Cassie could not see her own beauty. Chrissy pulled Cassie into her embrace her head resting on her shoulder, the scent of her strawberry shampoo dancing around her nose, whilst her brunette hair flowed down her back, two braids pinned in the back, to add texture. Chrissy simply analysed every detail she loved about Cassie before turning to her and whispering, "You look beautiful Cassie." When they pulled away from each other's arms, they simply stood for a moment looking at one another before Chrissy turned and opened the door, leading Cassie down the stairs to the front door. "How did I get so lucky?" She questioned, turning back to Cassie as Cassie walked outside, her denim jacket in one hand, as her white skirt shifted around her bare legs, with a black shirt, with small, embroidered daisies decorating it lightly. Cassie tilted her head at Chrissy's question as her hair danced in the cool breeze. "How did I get so lucky to have you as my best friend?" Cassie simply shrugged at her question before commenting.
"I think I'm the lucky one." She pulled Chrissy in for one more hug, her head resting on her shoulder, looking back into the house as she saw Sebastian and Jaxen walk towards them, with unimpressed looks on their faces.
"Cassie Marie Hassing," Sebastian spoke in a stern voice.
"Ha still doesn't know my full name," she teased hoping to bring the tension back down as it wrapped around the group, Sebastian couldn't help but send her a defeated look knowing she was right. When Cassie was born, her mother blessed her with three middle names, which Sebastian only knew one of. Chrissy also chuckled at the comment as she pulled away from the hug, knowing she knew more than what Sebastian did; Cassie had told Chrissy her full name during a game of truth or dare at a sleepover during the summer four years ago, just before Richard and Karen got married.
